Ok heres what happened. I knew these hunters were going out at the same time as me on boats to sit on the shores and hunt ducks. We talked a bit before we went out and they seemed ok. I went along at a leisurely pace and thought I was keeping my distance from them. But I was much closer then I thought and they threatened me with the game warden and that I should leave the lake. Duh....Ok I feel stupid that I was that close that they could yell out at me but I thought a nice please move would have been nicer before going right into threats. Anyone else here had trouble with hunters before?.

Are there specific rules about giving hunters a certain distance?

I'm an archaeologist and I've been shot at by hunters who were pissed off at my survey crew for scaring game away.

Yes, yes I have. The local hunters in my area know me well, we have had many discussions. Arm yourself, with all the information you can find on the legalities of Hunting in your area. Talk to the game wardens, police, conservation officers etc. As far as I know there is no law that says you cannot walk, sit, take pictures, etc. in hunting areas, unless it is private land, that is another story.

I think we should even things up for the hunted animals, you know, make little guns for the ducks, deer, squirrels etc. Give them lessons on how to shoot back, dress them in camo gear, OK sorry, but fair is fair, right?

I live in a rural area so you can't walk out the door with out seeing a hunter. This moring I was out running on this trail( were hunting is not permited) and some hunter was shooting from a window in his house! I had no idea at what but one has to assume that if someone is sick enough to shoot animals then he could just as eaily shot a person, So needless to say I don't plan on running on that trail anymore.

People who aren't hunters can easily enough shoot a person also. Don't you see it on the news? It happens everyday.

I don't think you were threatened by a hunter because you're veg*n or anything like that. He also didn't threaten bodily harm or anything like that. You were too close. He threatened to call the Game Warden, as he should have. He did nothing wrong*.

*killing things aside.

Why would you think this was your fault. If I am not mistaken, you were in a public area and had as much a right to be there as the ones who choose to kill in the name of "sport".
