Great! I'll see you all there! (I'll be the disheveled, wilted-looking person about to pass out from the heat. I'm going to head out early and check out the OC Fair today!)

Amy! Where were you?!

The dinner was really nice - Wheel of Life is an excellent restaurant, and porvida and ProudVegan are great company. On porvida's recommendation, I took home an order of the restaurant's veggie jerky. Wow!! It's so good the label should warn against the possibility of addiction!

I've posted pictures in the photo album....

My dad hit his head - I had to go sit with him just in case.

I really wish I could have been there.

Since I mentioned this organization at dinner last night, and we seem to have a hard time getting a VB group together for dinners, here's the info in case people want to attend a VDC event:

Quote:
Vegetarian Dining Club

Features two to four vegan dinners per month at Los Angeles and Orange County restaurants. Dinners are usually held on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. at a cost of approximately $25 per person. The evening includes a speaker. Membership fee includes discount coupons, a holistic directory of vegetarian restaurants and related services, and a special card for ongoing discounts at vegetarian restaurants. Phone Randy Ellis at 323-953-0543 or Ken Ziff at 360-396-2826.

The above came from the Vegetarians in Paradise web site, and I think all of the info is still current.

I really think we should have a more extensive kind of meetup - perhaps in San Diego - since there seems to be quite a few VBers down there. That's something that would require staying overnight, but we could do more than just have dinner. When I was a kid, we (me and my family) would frequently spend weekends down there. Some of the highlights of our visits included the SD Zoo (we don't have to go there), Shakespeare at the Old Globe, and a little sailin' on the water.

Oh, yeah, and my mother insisted on stealing a Gideon Bible from the hotel room.

In other news, Magic Mountain may be sold off, and possibly shut down to make way for development... Might be a good incentive to go after the summer crowds subside a bit, or at least this heat. It gets crazy hot up there.

I can get passes to MM for $27 each, FWIW. (but only 6 total)

No, August will be too hot. September will be too hot. Perhaps we should hold off until October...

Let's have a Halloween party!

I'd love to go to Magic Mountain after Labor Day, when the kids are back in school, and the air has cooled a reasonable amount.

Oh come on.. a meet-up in August. We should hold off for the 6Flags till Sept then...

But we'll have a potluck, lunch or dinner at a vegan restaurant, or an activity indoors.

I have an aversion to potlucks for some reason, but I'd try to make it if that was what everyone wanted to do. I fear that, with the large number of last minute cancellations in this group, we'd end up with a very odd selection to choose from, though. Great thing about eating out is that everyone can order what he or she wants.

I still have the same schedule constraints as always.

Would you be interested in going Saturday evening (the 12th)? I realized I have something that afternoon, so the earliest I can go is 5:30.
