Edited 6/6:

So plans are underway for a gathering from Friday the 8th - Sunday the 10th of July. Some activities under discussion include visiting some local health food stores, a museum, the beach, a beading class, trip to a theme park, and of course lots of yummy vegan food.

If you are interested in coming but need a ride/place to stay...feel free to post or PM me and we'll try to work something out. (We're kind people here in Chicago )

So, post in the thread if you are planning to attend, and then I'll add your name to the list.

Planning to attend:

IamJen

kpickell

brownieB26

carnelian

Michael

cheekywhiskers

vggiegirl

Wolfie

AngelofDance

smedley

waliak

Possibly attending

I have friends in Chicago I've been meaning to visit so I'll also ask them when a good time would be. (The one is a vegetarian.) Memorial day doesn't work out for me, though. Other dates are possible but thus far July sounds best.

You Chi-towners are quite fortunate to have so many vegetarian and vegan restaurants there. Are you all going to meet up at one?

I don't know why, but I thought it was funny; if I go, I'm going to try to go with you guys, if we can afford it.

I'm pretty flexible, with the exception of the last weekend in June. Otherwise, I'll go along with whatever works best for everyone else.

No.

I was curious to see if you all would take advantage of the wonderful veg*n spots Chicago has to offer. Thus far, I have only had the pleasure of eating at two of them.

I really haven't been able to eat at any of the veg restaurants in Chicago, and I live only about an hour and a half away from the city. Whenever I go, I am always with my boyfriend and he usually picks the restaurant. Does anyone have a list of veg resturants in Chicago or places to recommend? I think next time we go, I'm going to ask if we can go to one.

You're going to ask? C'mon ladies, talk to this girl, tell her how it's supposed to work.

Why wouldn't you drink one? You could at least buy it and decide you don't want it and then give it to me.

Oh, and my parents said I could go, but that it'd be nicer if it was after July 7, so that I would be 18 and could go alone

just not my thing. i would have one sip if my husband had one. but not one sip from yours. no offense--but i assure you that you are too germy for me!! but i will buy you one!! they are yummy--but i prefer salty over sweet and do not eat a ton of fat, and they are loaded! if i were to consume one, it would be the only thing i would have for lunch. my head wants to explode thinking of people consuming them alongside a meal!!!

I think you misunderstood. I'm not sharing mine. I would not let you have a sip of mine even if you wanted it! It's mine all mine! *ahem* There, now do you feel better about meeting us?

*carnelian can relate, as she's pretty darn serious about hers, too!

The only time I can't do is the end of July (or something like that). My brother is in the Air Force and coming home between assignments them, but they won't tell him an exact date yet. I just need a week or two advanced notice so I can ask for the time off. I've never been to the Chicago Diner yet, but I love going to FlatTop, its veggie and omni friendly (I still have my free birthday meal to cash in on).
