just another pointless thread ....

but the summer is coming, and i can smell it, and i can't stop thinking about the things i'll enjoy a lot more in the summer.

so lets tease ourselves and make a list of things that are so much better in the summer!

1. Beer .... of course

2. Driving ! all windows down, good music and sunglasses ... hair in the wind and all that ,,,,

i started it off, and you guys think of more

- mendota sparkling water... it tends to be more abundant in the summer because I guess more people buy it. and it's nice to be able to drink it without being freezing afterwards

- the park!

- walks and being outdoors in general

- the heat in my house doesn't keep me warm. but during the summer, it's warm outdoors and indoors, there's AC!

- when I go to restaurants, I always end up freezing (probably from drinking cold soda) and during the summer, it's nice to be able to walk outside and immediately be warm

sleeping in till noon. being able to walk outside wearing a tank top without getting goosebumps. no snow. fireworks are easier to get a hold of. no school. the smell of freshly cut grass and sunscreen. getting in the hot tub without freezing when you get out. not getting a tan. watching the people who were tanning get ugly when they're in their 30's. not having to leave the house for days at a time. watching thunderstorms. going to summer camp. letting my brain get stupid for a couple of months.

oooh I know...

running through the sprinkler or playing in water and then being freezing cold and changing back into your dry clothes and they're all warm because they've been sitting in the sun... or even, if you're really cold, putting on a sweatshirt and having it feel weird and foreign like something from years and years ago, but warm and safe...

I haven't done that in forever. It's not the same anymore... but man, that was the best.

Spending a week with my friends at the beach house of one of my friends. It's so sweet. Right on the beach with 6 bedrooms, pool, hot tub, and pool table.

Just being social outdoors drinking and grilling even if my friends are omin. But i still love em

Summer romances. At least, I've never had a winter romance, so I have to assume that something about summer vacation and having time on your hands helps keep the heart fires burning, so to speak.

Horseback riding. My horses are so soggy and shaggy right now and the trails in the woods are so sloppy and wet and it's still COOOOOOLD... We still go out but I WAY prefer it in the summer.

And working on my flowers and herb garden.

And weekends at the beach.

And iced tea with lemon.

And camping.

And late afternoon happy hour on the deck at one of the many waterfront restaurants in Seattle or Tacoma, hanging with my friends...

I was just going to say fireflies (or "lightening bugs" as well used to call them, heh). They are a pretty rare occurrence in West Michigan, and so I'd forgotten about how cool they are until I moved to OK for school.

How about:

Crickets chirping in the grass.

Going to the beach - lots nicer to feel the sand between your toes when it's not 30 degrees outside.

Lemonade - that tall glass of sugary goodness on a hot summer day.

Listening to music outdoors on a radio.

Um. SPF 1000 and an umbrella? And a laser that blows up the sun. Bitter and hostle? No. Of course not. Beer and driving...perhaps not together, are nice. Lots of shows and the satisfaction in knowing my endocrine system doesnt work and I can wear a parka outside.

Rain, is also much better in the summer. Conducive to dancing, instead of complaining.
