Krista emailed me why she left. It was basically her continual complaint that she never felt that welcome by certain folks (I'm not mentioning names and I'd prefer that other people didn't either) after her decision to go back to meat eating some time ago.

Personally I think people just need to take a break sometimes. You know, walk the dog...go camping...relax. Realize there's more to life than a seventeen inch computer screan. It's helpful and healthy. I've taken numorous breaks from this place myself. Then it's always nice to come back and reacquaint myself.

Right, but taking a break is different that cancelling your account.

And as far as not feeling welcomed...I have felt like a freakish outcast for being on the OTHER end of the spectrum (passionate/strict AR vegan)

Well...I would have advised that she do the former...but she didn't ask my advice. There were some murky details I won't post here.

I missed the Tash incident. I guess thats why he didn't show up at the STL meetup like he told me he would . Its a shame people have felt the need to leave. A break is ok, but everyone should come back!

Besides the people already mentioned, I noticed MezziEmo has been gone almost a month. I wonder where she is.

i think it sucks that krista felt she had to leave here.

she and i have had our differences (and continue to) but i still think she was a valuable member here with information to share and friendships to be cultivated. she really cared/cares about a lot of people in this community and the effort she put into it was evident.

I always like Krista's posts too. I hope Ms.Ruthie will stay too.

Speaking as an hombre, I hope Tash comes back, and I miss Bank's presence big time here. As originally posted in the Mens' section by Peebs.....

It has been a while since I watched the Simpsons. Which character was "Max Power"?

Homer Simpson.

I believe that was a nickname he gave himself in one of the episodes.

Ah.

I would make a snarky comment about watching The Simpsons too much, but I would be a hypocrite .

I do catch myself thinking that "hmm so and so seems similar to this character or episode from the Simpsons".

I guess that is why the show was and still is a hit. It satirizes real contemporary American life. A sarcastic and funny ( and more honest ) modern Norman Rockwell.

I can't tell you how many people like the comic book store guy I have run across. They are all over the I.T. field.

She was an exception to the "rule" because she was here before that "rule" became established. However, based on a few whines, complaints, and dumb comments from folks who shall remain nameless, she felt it better to leave. IMO, that ain't feeling wanted.

Yeah, Shag. That's no new news to me...and I stand behind what I said. she held a pretty special place here, IMO. Too bad she felt "unwanted"...

you don't see it because it happened in other spaces where it wouldn't be considered a violation of the TOS for VB.

real classy.

Not to pick nits, but that's not actually true. That rule existed before the VegWeb merge. Krista wasn't going to join because of the "no omnis" stipulation, but because of her support of the Eat To Live folks, a number of people requested that she be given an exception.

I will say that if you paint a big ass bullseye on your back, you shouldn't be surprised when some people start taking shots at you.
