I heard that white roses are appropriate flowers to send to a friend on valentines day. Is this true, or has the establishment lied to me once-again?

i believe that's correct. my friend and i stopped at a flower shop once to ask for directions and they had a list of what colors meant what and if it's for someone who's just a friend i think white is correct.

but don't hold me to that if it's wrong - i'm just trying to act like i know what the hell i'm talking about

ROSE (WHITE) - Innocence and Purity, I am Worthy of You, You're Heavenly, Secrecy and Silence

A very nice gift IMO.

Hold the presses: you said friend. White might be just the thing.

As usual, I'm not your expert. I do know that red is for romance and love. In fact, in Europe it would be very odd not to give a lover red roses, so I am told.

I believe white stands for innocence and purity. Who wants that? I suspect the white for valentines info is incorrect, though it wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong (like maybe they are good for a friend).Yellow is friendship or betrayal. Pink is friendship. Yellow might be best for a friend.

I'm sure any roses you send would be appreciated! If you can go to Costco they have a dozen at high quality and low prices.

I actually believed for some reason that yellow roses where the appropriate flowers to give to a friend. I could very easily be wrong though.

OH hey...off of the link SeaSiren posted...

Yellow Roses

Yellow roses indicate friendship and freedom -- so don't send them if your intentions are romantic and long-lasting. Yellow roses are also appropriate for sending congratulations to newlyweds, graduates, Texans, and new mothers.

I think peach (which my Dad sent me once), white, yellow, or a combo would be fine, as long as it's not red or pink. You could always send other flowers, like stargazer lillies. I love those.

So confused!!!

Okay see the stupid thing is that "White roses mean spiritual love, virginity and purity. They can also mean secrecy, reverence, humility, worthiness, innocence or charm." I'm okay with "spiritual love" and "reverence, humilty, and worthiness." However, "virginity and purity"??? Heh. Let's go with "no".

UGH!

The link doesn't work, but I know what you're talking about. According to 1-800-Flowers:

Multi-Color Roses: Apple of your eye? When you love them in so many different ways, there's nothing like a rainbow of roses to show how much you care!

Ding ding ding! A winner??

Uh...Christy's right, unless she's a student of ancient lore, she won't be offended.

I think pink is pretty. I also think it's neat you are even thinking about this.

You could write something like, "Thanks for being such a good friend?" I have no idea. I suck at this stuff too. She will be happy, don't worry.

Um, 'Happy Valentine's Day, Warren'? Silly.

Or, 'Do you like me? Check the box...'

'Happy Valentine's Day, dude.'

I want her to smile, laugh, and perhaps cry when she reads the card! Not yawn and fall asleep.

How about this:

"Dearest lady, I don't want the girls in your dorm thinking you're lame, or the guys thinking you're available, so here are some roses. If you get flowers from another guy, please dispose of them, or at least forward my flowers on to an attractive friend. Love always, Squishface."

Squishface? That made me laugh!

I think your card idea is cute. Squishface.

My original message was too long. How about this, with white roses:

"Dearest Baby. It would be a crime for your loviness to go without flowers today. If you do recieve other roses, please dispose of them or forward my flowers on to an attractive friend. Love always, Squishface."

P.s. "Squishface" comes from an episode of Sealab 2021. It's a little white turd that farts. Not the *worst* thing a gf or ex-gf has called me.

That's cute. She will love it.

Now, I will be thinking of white farting turds. Hey, my ex is white, he farts and he is a turd! I think I found a new nickname! Thanks Trent!
