Correlation between Veganism and Personality

Greetings Vegans/Vegetarians;

I was having a discussion today about vegans and possible correlation between different types of Keirsey Temperments. I hypothesized that a large majority of Vegans and Vegetarians would belong to a specific group of Keirsey temperments, the Idealists (NFs- ENFP, ENFJ, INFJ, INFP). However, I haven't found any specific data supporting this, so in the interest of science, I thought I'd bring the question here.

Here is a link to the MBTI, which will tell you which typology you belong to:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

If you would please fill it out, answering the questions with your strongest 'feeling' and post the results here, and why you became a vegan or vegetarian, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

My type is ISFJ:

Introverted: 44%

Sensing: 22%

Feeling: 44%

Judging: 33%

Is it me or the test? 22, 33, 44. Weird.

I became a vegetarian because I thought it was wrong and unethical for me to eat one animal while professing my love for my pets. It was hypocritical in my mind and the idea of anything having to die for me just so I can have a meal seemed ridiculous.

I became a veg*n for mainly health reasons. My body can no longer handle dairy, and most heavy foods, including meats cause me digestive problems too. So I had to give it up.

I'm an INTP. Went vegetarian initially because I wasn't too keen on the thought of eating dead flesh. Now, it's more of a moral thing.

Always ends up that way...

Vegetarian all my life because my folks were, then as I got older because I didn't LIKE meat foods and the thought of eating an animal gave me the willies, then as I got more educated, because I couldn't see eating an animal... and because it was better for my health.

I think I'm more than 1% extrovert. I don't get it. What does this mean? I have a keen perception; of course, I'm ADD. We notice everything! What's the deal with my extroversion? I don't like being around people for too long, but I carry my heart on my sleeve, and I talk to strangers all the time. I'm also the first one - usually the only one - to speak up in class discussions. I just tired and want to be by myself. I like one-on-one interaction more than group stuff, though.

Yeah, I don't think I'm 78% introverted either, but there it is...

I took the Myer's Briggs in one of my classes last sememster and was an INFJ/ INFP. The P and the J were 50/50. That makes me an Idealist, I guess

I became veggie because I feel that it is wrong to torture helpless beings for our own gain. I want to live in a peaceful world, and by continuing to eat meat/eggs/dairy or what-have-you I felt that I was contributing wholeheartedly to the demise of my own health and to the health of our society. Humans aren't always right. This is just one of my ways of attempting to correct 'us' (the human population)- even if it is only in a very, very small way.

I'm not sure what all this means. Especially "sensing".

I do want to relate a story that occurred today. I'm very shy and introverted and not the confrontational type. I have a new coworker with whom I'm working very closely in the same office. Today she came in REEKING of strong perfume. I don't think I'm allergic, but I am very sensitive to scents. I never wear perfume myself. I sat there for several hours at my desk (about 10 feet away from my coworker), trying not to let it bother me, but it did. I ran my little desk fan even though it was cool in the office. I developed a headache. My sinuses burned and my throat started to close up. After several hours of this, I couldn't stand it anymore. I didn't want to say anything. I don't do confrontations. But my conscience said to me: "She's a very nice person. Talk to her, dammit!" So I finally got up, walked over and said "I didn't want to bring this up because I didn't want you to feel offended, but..." and I explained how I was affected by her perfume. And I was right. She was very nice about it and said she wouldn't wear the perfume to work anymore. I walked on air back to my desk and my conscience said "See, I told ya so! See, it pays to tell people when something's bothering you!" There was a time when I would have just sat in my chair and suffered. But I count that incident today as a little tiny victory baby step towards a less introverted and more assertive personality. Whee!

Became vegan because I think that the way that the meat industry works is bad for us, the environment and the animals. I'm not willing to go out and kill it myself, so why is it okay to have others do it for me?
