Do you feel like you're "meant" to do a particular thing (or follow a particular path) in your life?

What is it? Where do you think this calling comes from? Your inner being? God? Family influence? Friends?

If you don't have a "calling" - what significant directional choices have you made that brought you to where you are today?

Yes. I'm called to be a musician... It's motivated more by myself and my gut feelings than by religion or by anyone I know -- all I know is that I am genuinely happy when making music and that nothing else can give me that feeling. I can't possibly imagine any other path that would make me even remotely happy except music. It's my passion; it's my life.

Following this calling has been very easy... I've always been actively involved in music at school, at church, and extracurricularly. I have taken extensive voice lessons for over three years now, I've entered and won many competitions, I have studied music theory/history on my own... The only step left now is auditioning for conservatories/schools and choosing one. I'm thrilled to death over the challenges still ahead of me and welcome them with open arms.

Pissing people off and making sarcastic comments. Lots of eye rolling. Oh, and spelling errors/typos. Definately.

My calling seems to be giving up everything that I like until I don't have, eat, think, or do anything at all.

Hehe.. now I'm picturing you at work trying to piss people off while wearing porno make-up and that sundress with big black shoes. It's a funny image.

I think I like yours better then mine! I am picturing the attitude of the housekeeper on Two and A Half Men.

Mine has always been teaching. I knew it was so from the time I was in grammar school. It is in the area of healing too.

I've always thought I'm here to make a difference in other people's lives. I've always tried to do that with love, support and even a kick in the but when necessary. Now I'm studying law, because I find it interesting and I can make a real difference to a lot of people.

My purpose in life is to be here for someone else...now if I could only find said person. Pfft. My "calling" is likely writing. It comes very easily to me and I enjoy doing it more than anything else. Great, so I'm going to be poor the rest of my life as well. *pulls up a chair next to SDG*

My callings are nature (lived one of my dreams when I lived as a vegan in the wild, for a time), science (although environment and creature friendly), the advancement of interspecies communication, the advancement of self-led learning, and last but not least, the development of an environmentally friendly, anti-authoritarian, governing style (or non-governing) otherwise known as "eco-anarchism".

Back when I believe in God and all that I thought I had a calling to work with the homeless, using my computer skills.

I don't believe in all that "Calling" stuff now. Instead today I'm working with the homeless, using my computer skills.
