My sister has a bumper sticker that says "It has become appallingly clear that our technology has surpassed our humanity," and I explained to her that Einstein was a vegetarian and what he was probably referring to was factory farming and animal testing.

Where can I find Einstein vegetarian quotes? I know there is more than this one, but this is all I have so far:

"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet."

-Albert Einstein

Thanks. She didn't believe me.

"Vegetarian food leaves a deep impression on our nature. If the whole

world adopts vegetarianism, it can change the destiny of humankind."

That quote on your sister's bumper sticker is more likely referring to his regrets about his contributions to the atomic bomb. That said, his thoughts on vegetarianism and compassion are equally compelling.

It is my view that the vegetarian manner of living, by its purely physical effect on the human temperament, would most beneficially influence the lot of mankind. --Albert Einstein

"So I am living without fats, without meat, without fish, but am feeling quite well this way. It always seems to me that man was not born to be a carnivore."

I am not only a pacifist but a militant pacifist. I am willing to fight for peace. Nothing will end war unless the people themselves refuse to go to war. - Albert Einstein, interview with G. S. Viereck, January 1931

Militant pacifist, ha, I like that!........nice one Einstein, no not you Lucycat........Well okay then Brains!!

Is that one which you yourself agree with?......or is it too ironic sounding to be a credible in practice?.... I think it sounds ok, but.... then again maybe he was just excentuating the pacifist in himself with a more brutal sounding word without the actual going to war as such?...... ie, fighting without fighting, a philosophy <phrase & practice> cloned by Bruce Lee I believe(?)

Oneness (when she was here) had once the full (lengthier) quote on a similar tune as that!.... I'll fetch it out if I find it some place.... Or IM her perhaps and find out.

Here's some other quotes.

"The important thing is not to stop questioning."

"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeeded be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."

"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

"It's not that I'm so smart , it's just that I stay with problems longer ."

"Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding."

"I never think of the future. It comes soon enough."

"A person starts to live when he can live outside himself."

"So long as they don't get violent, I want to let everyone say what they wish, for I myself have always said exactly what pleased me."

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

And here's a longer version of this quote..

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

ebola, you might try here:

http://www.josephsoninstitute.org/quotes/quotetoc.htm

I'm sure there's some Einstein here somewhere.

One of my fave quotes from Big Al (not veg-related):

"If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales."

The ones I pity are the ones who never stick out their neck for something they believe, never know the taste of moral struggle, and never have the thrill of victory. - Jonathan Kozol
