When I was thinking of a place to post about this, this is the only place that came to mind. I feel that the people here truly are the most compassionate people I could ever hope to ask for help. This is my second post, but I've been lurking about for awhile.
I hope that this is okay to post here. I saw that it said off-topic, so I decided to go for it.
My cousins have a rare disease called Diamond-Blackfan Anemia. Their bodies cannot produce their own red blood cells and blood transfusions are a frequent reality. Over time, with the medications they're on, iron builds up to fatal levels and leukemia and other diseases have a high rate of occurrence.
That is Justin, aged four, his mom, Nathalie, aged 29, and baby Alexandre at his first hospitalization for a blood transfusion at just a few days old. At Nat's age, she is just getting sicker and sicker and may not be around much longer unless a cure is found. Justin started Kindergarten yesterday. Please help to get his mom to his graduation!
There is a competition going on that you can vote for the DBA foundation to win 10,000$ towards finding a cure. It doesn't cost anything but a bit of your time.
The link is here: http://apps.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving/charity/view/ein/16-1459422?ref=9969cd5961
Please help them win this! It would mean so much to the foundation, but even more so to the individuals affected.
Thank you so much for your time.
