Because of its elliptical orbit and proximity to the earth, Saturday's full moonrise is expected to appear just about as large as it ever gets, a perigee moon. If you don't check it out, you'll have to wait until 2029 for another chance.

Can't wait to see it! I did get to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the beautiful weather last night. The moon was very bright and when the clouds covered it up, there was the rainbow effect all around the edge of the clouds.

I'm glad I caught a glimpse of it last night. It's raining here, and I doubt it'll clear up at this point. *sigh*

Mercury is dancing around with Jupiter too, and I can't see that either.

Cool! I noticed it was looking rather bright yesterday, I can't wait to see it tomorrow night.

Will have to keep an eye out. Not sure we're going to get the necessary clear sky, though.

It was incredible. I noticed it on Thursday night and made MrSchu go out and look at it. Last night it was even more amazing!

Same with Oregon. Hopefully it will clear up.

I just went and looked at it. It's very pretty, but I cannot say that it looks 14% bigger.

Yep, totally with you on that one. I thought it was going to be huge, but it doesn't look that much brighter.

It was stunning, coming up over the Atlantic. It looked bigger, for sure, but mostly it was SO bright!

Three cheers for the Death Moon.

Me, too! Oops. I think it was cloudy anyway, though. I did see it tonight. It did look huge, but that may have been because I was looking at it through a window that's across the other side of the house from where I was sitting. I decided against getting up to go outside and howl at it.
