This is an interesting project that L.O.V.E. is doing.http://loveallbeings.org/vegan-buddies/
While we believe very strongly in the importance of virtual spaces and communities like the one housed here at loveallbeings.org, theres something valuable in having relationships beyond the computer screen. Throughout our years as vegans, weve sought support from friends and family members and when that support has come in the form of a card or a letter or a photograph, we often refer back to those mementos when we were in need of a smile or a boost.
In that spirit, LOVE is proud to announce the launch of our Vegan Pen Pals Project. This is sort of our attempt at Vegan Buddies 2.0 we discovered very quickly that we do not have the resources yet to create effective groups of people living in similar geographic regions, but werent sure what to do. Since writing letters is not dependent on location, we thought that vegan pen pals may be a great way to foster community and create support networks for vegans everywhere.
Vegan Pen Pals are located around the globe and engage in various activities in their towns and cities, including potlucks, leafleting events, demonstrations, shopping excursions, film screenings, book clubs, restaurant outings, and more. There are no restrictions on who can be a vegan pen pal: aspiring vegans or long-time plant-eaters; old or young; cisgender or transgender; shy or outgoing; queer or straight; tall or short; bookworms; bike-riders; chefs; dancers; musicians; and covering the spectrum of genders and abilities. We only ask that you commit to one letter per month (but more, of course, is encouraged).
All letters are routed through a central PO Box, so you never have to share your return address with anyone except the Vegan Pen Pals moderator.
