What is it? Can someone link to an example?

Christy 01-20-2004 07:04 AM

GhostUser 01-20-2004 08:10 AM

It's from the 70's. Farrah Fawcett had a flipped hairstyle..actually a ton of actresses in the 70's had a flipped hairstyle.

Christy 01-20-2004 08:12 AM

Oh. So, the ones we have today where the ends are flipped out are like their "wings" have fallen?

GhostUser 01-20-2004 08:15 AM

Yeah. Check out this site.

I would tell my mom to take me to the beauty shop to get my hair cut because I wanted to flip my hair back. It was thee style back in the day.

Artichoke47 01-20-2004 08:20 AM

Hehe! Cute pic, Ruthie.

Why do you want to know, Michael? Are you thinking of trying this hairstyle?

I had my hair feathered, way back in the day. I was just a lil muzicfan then.

That site is really funny! Especially this: http://www.featheredback.com/modern10/tapvideo.jpg

I used to use gel and a hairblower to get it "in to shape" back in the eighties.

(I don't think it was normal for a male teenager to have a hairblower )

I had something that looked like the left "person", but now I've changed to something simular to the person on the right side.

I wear my hair flipped out. I don't know if that's what you're looking for though. https://www.veggieboards.com/pics/sho...00&ppuser=1544

Let me guess, your new internet love interest wears her hair like that sometimes??

Christy 01-20-2004 11:43 AM

Purdy.

SunnyK 01-20-2004 02:00 PM

I'm so curious why Michael asked the question!

I would considered SallyK's hair to be the current "flipped" style. I've thought about getting something similar, but in a longer length.

borealis 01-20-2004 02:37 PM

Another famous flip, early 60s style

My second-grade teacher also had this style.

Artichoke47 01-20-2004 03:14 PM

Ahem, Michael. Are you refusing to answer the question?

Skylark 01-20-2004 04:24 PM

Maybe he heard it in a conversation and wanted to know what it meant. I didn't know what teased hair was until I was past old enough to know.

I LOVE this website!

OMG! It was my goal in life to have that perfectly feathered "butt" in the back. Ahh those were the days!

Michael 01-20-2004 05:32 PM

Someone told me they had one and I had never heard of it.

Meo 01-20-2004 10:36 PM

When I had really short hair, I had a "duck butt" in the back. Now I'd flip mine out because it's so long, if it weren't so limp.

Yeah, like we are going to believe that

Teased hair ? should I start a separate thread for that ?

GhostUser 01-23-2004 12:30 AM

Ok I have a hair question of a similar nature!

What are bangs? I hear the expression a lot on American sites... But I can't work it out!! Is it just a fringe?

Yip, it's a fringe... I never use to know that either but finally figured it out!

DirtDiva96 01-23-2004 12:46 AM

You guys are funny.. and that site cracked me up too! I guess I'm too young to remember everyone having "feathered" hair though. When my hair was super short I would either spike it up all over or I would comb it down and flip the ends out like in Sally's cute pictures.

DannyKass.. bangs are when you have longer hair all over and then you cut the hair in the very front short. Used to be they were cut straight across the forehead.. Like the girl on the left on this page..http://www.hair-styles.org/fl4.html
