An 83-year-old grump who faces seven years in prison for giving a 99-year-old an old-fashioned whipping turned down a no-jail plea deal Monday.

Gersh Gofman sniffed at a prosecutor's offer of probation for allegedly using a steering wheel lock to pummel Steve Pulwers in a dispute over a Borough Park, Brooklyn, parking spot.

Gofman didn't want to talk about it, but his lawyer said he's just waiting for a better offer.

"He's sorry this ever happened and would like to have it behind him," lawyer Michael Pate said. "He sustained injuries, too - he was scratched, bitten and bruised."

Poor guy was scratched, bitten and bruised. It's good to see people mellow out and wisen as they get older.

Yeah. Why do some people fight over parking spots?? I remember a local news story where a guy was killed because of a parking spot argument. It's really sad.

Is it just me or does the article read quite inappropriately lightheartedly? Like 'oh those silly grumpy old folks, what will they get up to next?'. Maybe it's just me.

not just you, i got that impression too. its like people dont wanna take it seriously cuz that would mean viewing older people as being human or something. its bizarre to me how people can find an assault something to be lighthearted about.
