Hi everyone,

I found this group online and I need your help. I'm

trying to get the word out about a anti-vegetarian

group on my college campus. I'm a student at Penn

State Berks (near Reading, PA) and our local

(obnoxious) College Republicans decided to post a

flyer for an event they were having and called it an

"Animal Rights Barbecue". They listed the food

available as various forms of flesh and made a point

to say "no veggie burgers." Being a vegetarian and

someone who supports animal rights, I thought this was

pretty offensive, particularly because it is so

exclusive of many vegetarian students (and there are

quite a few vegs on campus). I doubt the college would allow me to have an event and use it to make fun of Catholics' beliefs, or the beliefs of someone who was pro-life, so I'm not sure how this group is allowed to insult MY beliefs. My vegetarianism and my stance on animal rights is very serious to me, and I take offense to this flyer and this event. I'm trying to alert

vegetarians in the area so they can call the Campus

Life person who ok'd this flyer and this event, and to

complain to him about how offensive this flyer is to

the many vegetarians on campus. Having a

college-sponsored event by a college-sponsored group

be so obnoxious to so many students' beliefs is NOT

okay, and I want as many vegetarians and pro-animal

rights people to let the campus person know this. The

Campus Life person's name is John Gallagher and his

email is jag38 @ psu.edu (minus spaces), his phone is 610-396-6068. If

you could please post this to any vegetarian groups in

the area or around PA that you know of and ask them to

call and email to complain to this person for both

allowing this flyer and this event, it would be so

much appreciated. I want them to know this is NOT okay

and not funny to those of us who are vegetarian,

pro-animal rights, or both. Thanks for any help! ~Melissa
