I have recently been very interested in healing common ailments through food and herbs, as well as learning what foods can prevent certain problems such as cancer...but can't seem to find any good internet or book sources to help me. Anyone knowledgeable on this topic?

Read The China Study by T Colin Campbell and anything by Dr John McDougall or Dr Neal Barnard. Visit the PCRM website.

There is an incredible amount of information out there, by reputable scientists and doctors, based on empirical and epidemiological research. It consistently says the same thing - diseases of affluence (the top killers in the US and most Western countries) are preventable and curable through eating a low fat, whole food plant-based diet - just as people have for hundreds of thousands of years and in many parts of the world today. Those people do not, in general, suffer from and die from these diseases. It isn't genetic - when they emigrate to the US (for example) and change their diet their rates skyrocket.

Happy reading! :-)
