Hi. Ok well I am 17 years old and I'm about 5 foot 5 and I weigh between 7 Stone 4Lbs and 7 Stone 7Lbs.....

Everyone tells me I'm too thin, and I'm SO sick of it! What do you think...Is this a good weight? It's just that I try to eat more, because of what people say, but i just don't have the appetite, and can't be bothered eating extra stuff....

?

Honestly? You are very thin. You are still young and may fill out later, or may not.

If you don't have an appetite, check what you eat over a 2 week period in fitday.com and then see how much zinc you're getting. Sometimes, when you don't get enough zinc, you lose your appetite. But, if that's fine and overall your healthy, then maybe you're just a) thin or b) not done growing.

Ohh, thanks krista for the help!

To be honest, zinc is something i worry about. I don't think I get enough. I don't eat many nuts, but I do eat bread a lot.... What else could I eat for zinc?

I used to have a massive appetite. I eat a lot of carbohydrates, and large meals therefore I rarely snack. I eat suppoer usually though, before bed, I think I just need to find something full of healthy fat AND zinc.... But I can't find anything!!

FB - I think I would be about 103lbs or about 47kg....if that helps :P

I am so dumb when it comes to translating weights...hehe. Thx. I don't know much about zinc. What is its purpose, and what foods is it found in?

Sources of Zinc:

fortified soy milk (varies)

cashews (18 nuts = 10%RDI), almonds (22 = 6%), peanuts (20 = 8%), walnuts (7 full = 6%)

1 cup cooked brown rice (8%)

1 cup cooked lentils (16%)

1 cup navy beans (13%)

1 cup chickpeas (17%)

1 tbsp blackstrap molasses (1%, but 19% iron!)

Zinc is important to maintain your body's immune system functioning. Zinc aids in cell growth and cell division and helps with wound healing. Zinc is also integral to your ability to taste and smell. Symptoms of zinc deficiency include slow growth, poor appetite, impaired smell and taste and hair loss. (http://www.lifeclinic.com/focus/nutrition/zinc.asp)

Zinc is a large problem for me. I have anemia problems often and I find that it's closely linked to my zinc. When my zinc is low, my iron is low and I get sick. When my zinc is high, my iron is high and I don't get sick as much. Furthermore, the pills don't work well for me. I can take all the zinc and iron in the world in pill form, but it doesn't raise my iron scores. A couple weeks on blackstrap molasses and lentils, my scores are through the roof.

Use supplements and fortified foods as backup, but try to get at least half from real food.

I'm 5'2" (and I'm told by my doctor that I'm not getting any taller ) and 110 lbs. My weight changes a lot by about 5 lbs both ways pretty often, is that normal?

I think it's normal. Mine does that too, maybe because of amount of food eaten, water, time of day etc

a slightly more bitter and intense molasses. I like it mixed up with peanut butter myself. Even regular molasses helps

Wow, this is old. I wasn't here in 04, though, so here are my stats.

4'11"

85-90 lbs.

I'm not going to grow anymore, and I'm fine with that. I like being little! I could stand to gain a little weight, but I'm not too worried about it.

I'm 5'3" and 98 pounds. Generally a size 0 or 1 (Juniors sizes). Usually people are surprised at my weight though; I look like I weigh more than I do.

I wasn't here when this thread was originally created, so I figure I might as well jump on the bandwagon now.

Height: 5'5"

Weight: 137 pounds

Pant Size: Juniors size 7

Shirt Size: Misses Small or Juniors Medium

I've always struggled with my weight; having weighed 178 at my highest about 4 years ago.

I now do weight watchers, work out 3-5 times per week, and have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for almost two months now.

I'm totally loving the results :-D
