Romaine lettuce/E. coli ALERT!

There is a widespread contamination of romaine lettuce (whole heads, hearts, chopped for salads) originating from the Yuma, Arizona area. It has been detected in many states. The Center for Disease Control is recommending, if you have any on hand, and are not absolutely certain it didn't come from Yuma, to throw it out. Also, the CDC says not to order any from a restaurant, unless you can confirm its place of origin. Better safe than sorry!

Bumping this up to the top of the list again - we don't want anyone to miss this.

Bump. Just thought I'd mention, the romaine/E. coli outbreak continues to spread, and has been detected in 19 states (84 cases.) Please be careful about eating this food!

Thanks, Capstan. A major grocery chain in my area has posted notices about where their Romaine lettuce comes from (or doesn't come from).

Good news. The CDC has declared romaine lettuce safe to eat again. The harvesting season in Yuma is over, so the crisis is past. Hail Caesar! (Without the anchovies, please.)
