Exercise and eating... - VeggieBoards

I exercise a lot everyday.. in the morning I go running (3 miles), in the afternoon I have an 80 minute yoga class and then at night I go to the gym..and I walk everywhere I go. So I was just wondering... is it best to eat before I exercise or after? For example, should I eat a big dinner because I know I'm going running bright and early in the morning? OR should I eat a big breakfast after I get home because I've burned off everything I've ate? OR should I do both? Thanks for any advice.

Well you'll need a bit of fuel for your morning fun so I'd suggest friut or juice.. something easily digested and then have your normal big breakfast after. It's important to get protein and carbs after your workout to fuel your body after it's empty.. like a car! But because you workout in the morning your dinner the night before will be digested and therefore you'll be running on empty.. hense the reason you need to eat something small like fruit before you start working. Make sense? I hope i helped!

having a big dinner the night before--full of lots of carbohydrates will be good--get up your glycogen stores overnight so you can burn it on your run. then yeah, a big breakfast afterward to re-fuel. in general, make sure you're getting enough calories to replace all you're burning up!

i'd do a light but power packs snackage before you run something full or good carbs mineral protien ect but won't bounce around juring your run, i feel all when i excersise with a full belly.

I love to run. a few bananas before running and Im good. I run 70 minutes, on level 15 on the elliptical machines. go like hell.

I can't eat before I exercise. It makes me ill. This concerns my mother tremendously, but I seem to get by fine just eating when I get home.
