If you're going to go that argument, meat and dairy are LOADED with hormones, trace antibiotics, and other drugs used to manipulate the animal and make it grow bigger and produce more faster. Even grass fed animals produce hormones that are passed on to those who drink their milk or eat their flesh. Also, many phytoestrogens (soy is just one of many plants that have estrogen "like" compounds...flaxseeds are another for example) are known to help prevent breast cancer and other hormone causing cancers because they lower the amount of natural estrogen in the body by competing for the same cell receptors as human estrogens. Many advocates for the treatment of cancer and other estrogen/hormone driven diseases will promote plant based diets to control and heal these diseases. Endometriosis is one hormone driven disease that doctors advocate eating a more plant based diet and avoiding animal products. Eating soy will NOT cause you to have man boobs. That is nothing more than an ignorant myth promoted by a sexixt culture.

Your post is very difficult to read due to typos and grammatical errors.

The idea that soy and soy products causing manboobs is an ignorant myth propagated by an sexist society is described as follows:

Soy contains estrogen. Estrogen is a female hormone. Therefore eating soy will cause men to have female characteristics, like breasts. Having female characteristics is bad because being female is less good than being male. Therefore, men must avoid soy.

Soy contains less estrogen than dairy. If soy did cause breasts, all the men walking in a western country would have breasts because soy is in nearly EVERYTHING.

Men already have breasts, anyway. You know those things your nipples are on? Those are boobs.

Here is a very easy to read article on it from the Huff Post.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/0...n_5571272.html

Additionally, just because you do not like the answers you get does not mean you can dismiss them as irrelevant. Unfortunately in life, when the evidence and answers lead to unfortunate conclusions for our preexisting believes, it is our beliefs which must change, because the facts never will.

I can't make sense of your posts at all.

All men have breasts. This is because every fetus begins its embryonic life as a female.

I don't understand what chicken breasts have to do with this, or what any of this has to do with seeing a dentist about your cavities.

What? Eating chicken breast causes people to be overweight and have manboobs? Well, this is a vegetarian forum, so hopefully no one here is eating them, so I don't know why bring that up. Plus, I really doubt chicken breasts are the main cause of obesity.
You haven't given a single good reason as to why soy should be avoided, but if you want to avoid it yourself, go ahead.

Like no whey jose said, what the heck does all this this have to do with your cavities? You said you're 16, so what do your parents think about you refusing to see a dentist?

I guess you were referring to this: "plastic=estrogen=manboobs"
So you were saying that tooth fillings have estrogen in it and they would cause you to have manboobs? They don't. I have a family member who has done plenty of fillings and he doesn't have manboobs.

Also, for every article you pull out on the dangers of soy, someone else can pull out another one on the benefits of soy. The article you posted, has a link to the Weston A Price foundation. A foundation that, like someone has explained here before, is against a vegetarian lifestyle. As a vegetarian, I don't know why you would want to post an article that uses that website as a source.

You are young and will be totally fine. It is hard at your age, but you need to floss every day. It is important to go to the dentist to have the plague cleaned from your mouth. I floss everyday and brush well but you need a professional to get rid of the bad stuff. I went today and it is never pleasant but worth it.

Uh... Yes, you did. Combine post #30 with post #37 and that is exactly what you said. We are taking it seriously? So, you don't actually have any cavities and this whole post was a joke? If you do have cavities you were the one taking it very seriously regarding refusing to see a dentist because apparently white fillings=estrogen=manboobs.

Everything you read on the internet must be true.

Assuming you do have cavities, what is your reason for not wanting to see a dentist? The only reason you've given so far is that fillings would give you manboobs, which you're now denying you said for some reason. So again, what is your reason for not wanting to see a dentist?

Hi- haven't been on here in a long time (became a mama twice) but was interested in this thread. As far as Vitamin K2 goes, there is a vegan source- from natto. I take a supplement for exactly this reason called Plant Calcium by My Kind Organics. Look into it after seeing a dentist! And I'm not a spokesperson for them... just your regular vegan mama

seems good stuff i hope the little guys are taking it they say lack of k2 is why every one has buckley teeth this days, it keeps calcium out of the cartilage that makes up the jaw so it can grow to it's full potential

Regarding tooth issues. It could be as simple as changing your toothbrush and how to brush. It's best to always use a soft toothbrush. Plaque is soft and easy to remove so a soft bristle is all you need. Also never press down too hard while brushing teeth. If you are not sure how hard to press down, use the 3-finger method. Use only your thumb, pointing finger and middle finger to brush teeth.

If you don't do the above, eventually you could start losing the enamel on your teeth, and the enamel will never return.

I got all this advice/instruction from my own dentists (2 have told me same thing).

You could be missing something in your diet. Talk to a nutritionist, and discuss supplements. You only get one set of teeth, so don't mess around with this one.

Make sure you're using a good all natural toothpaste. I like Nature's Gate with the bamboo powder. Just stay far away from fluoride in toothpaste and at the dentist. It's not the same fluoride your teeth need. For a natural source of fluoride, drink a cup or two of green tea a day. Gunpowder green tea is the best. Make sure to swish it around your mouth before swallowing it. Xylotol gum has also been shown to strengthen enamel. Under no circumstances should you ever chew gum with aspartame or sucralose, though.
