Maybe a diet food in that they are low in calories and they help fill you up.

I'm glad to know about that trick, cause I've been eating lots of chia seeds lately in an effort to get more omega's, fiber and protein, but I've been less regular than usual.... Perhaps they were sucking all the water out of me. Do you think that would happen with ground seeds too?

They do absorb all the water. I don't eat them anymore. I will stick to flax for omega 3.

Yesterday I soaked chia seeds in fresh squeezed orange juice and made a pudding with that instead of just using water like a usually do. It was amazing!
