Tom,

Thanks! I'll be sure to check out maggies, and the food stores... sault ste. marie has nothing, so it'll be nice to have somewhere to get good veggie food again!

Oh hi people from Ontario. Great Province- just been there on holiday for two weeks.

I loved the beautiful wildlife and provincial parks. I went to Ottowa which I found had very similar Houses of Parliament to Britain. I saw this RCMP guy with the traditional uniform on gaurding the place on a horse which was cool (small things amuse me).

I also liked Toronto quite a lot. For a big city it was very clean and didn't have loads of homelessness or disgusting slums which I was impressed with. I've never seen such a big city be so clean!

Also went to Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay and Marathon (though to be honest there is nothing really that exciting about Marathon).

Anyway, just wanted to congratulate everyone here for having such a great province and loads of good veggie food, especially in Toronto.

I think its a great place. We saw the annual festival for small busineses and charities etc. which was pretty good. We also went on a boat trip between the border of Canada and America. We saw this big iron works and I took a picture of my brother in front of a big pile of sludge (seemed like a good idea at the time).

I met a vegan woman who was looking for a roommate at a TARS potluck (Toronto Animal Rights Society). They hold these potlucks twice per month. Sorry, don't have this person's contact info, but maybe you'll meet people there.

Hey Catgurrl,

Do you shop at Tara Natural Food? And if you do what do you think of it? I think it is a great place. Now that I am living in London I don't go to natural food stores cause they are so far and I find more expensive. I am Looking forward to getting back to Kingston this fall so that I can get my natural food fix!

I'm going with my boyfriend and his family for our annual week in Canada. They have a secluded cottage on Lake Papinue, which is located near Bancroft.

Anyways, we usually take a day and spend in town, and I have plans to take some leaflets with me, hopefully hand some out. I've never leafleted in Canada before.....and unfortunately I don't know the extent of animal rights in Canada. So....any advice or tips? Thanks a bunch =)

3.5 hours or so, I'd estimate. Going through toronto during rush hour would make it longer.

45 minutes (i'm in Toronto). I actually played my first show with my band in Kitchener in August at the Circus Room. Cool place. I was surprised to see that Kitchener actually had a downtown and stuff. I wasn't expecting it to be more than a bunch of plaza's and a Walmart, haha.

I must interrupt this Kitchener talk with news of veg*n goodness. The place is called Zen Garden(s?) and it's in London, downtown at Dundas and Waterloo beside the Budapest restaurant.

They serve probably 85-90% vegan food; everything on the menu is assumed to be vegan unless otherwise marked. Asian-influenced.

I am typing this with a mouthful of vegan wonton soup. I haven't had wonton for about, oh, 12 years. Git yer butts down there.

That is all.

Zen gardens is amazing! they have great smoothies that they make with soy milk and wont add yogurt if you ask for no yogurt. Of course we have a downtown lmao ;-)

What is the name of your band - newstars? i live about 5 minutes from there - let me know if you ever play there again - i like it there too !

I'd love to organize a south-eastern veggie type group . The TVA offers lots but as everythingis in toronto its hard. Any keeners?

I'm looking for good places in S. Ontario to buy good vegan shoes. I'm not too much into big skate shoes so macbeth's and signature vans aren't really my thing. I'm mostly looking for hightops or thin material sneakers ala Converse... only sweatshop free. London area, Toronto, Hamilton, Niagra Falls, Waterloo/Kitchers/Brantford. I'm in all of those places in the next month or 2 so any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of vegan shoes being sold online. Just google for "vegan shoes". There is one store that I know of in Toronto that sells vegan shoes. I think it's called "Left Feet". You can find it in the vegetarian directory on www.veg.ca
