Our new Star of the Week is unethicalvegan! Our Celebrity hails from the Pacific northwest (USA) and has posted at VB since January, 2013! Now's our chance to learn all about him! A warm welcome for unethicalvegan!

How do we do the interviews?

-Please ask only a few questions at a time, so everyone has a chance to participate. (You can come back often to ask more questions!) Each interview runs for a week, typically from Monday to Monday.

-Anyone (and everyone) can be a VB Star. If you would like to be a VB Star, just send me or any of the moderators a PM, and we'll arrange to get you into the hot-seat! In the event no one comes forward, it will be up to our current Star to choose next week's victim, er, interviewee. If you're asked to be a Celebrity, but don't want to be one, you may take a pass; likewise, the current Star is free to pass on any questions they are not comfortable with answering.

-Please keep our posting rules in mind, and let's keep this PG-13 or better. And remember, if our current famous person expresses an opinion with which you disagree, please do not give an argument in return. This is an interview, not a debate!

NOTE- If you'd like to read about our previous Stars (they go back several years,) all of the interviews are archived in the Meet Outstanding Users forum, for your reading pleasure!

Unethicalvegan has told us a little about himself:

Hop on my bike, terrorize motorists, and drink pint of CDA (cascadian dark ale) to celebrate.

Dumped an entire pan of gloppy risotto on shoes of company in kitchen.

-What's the one food/product, that you'd love to "veg*nize"?

Your questions, please!

Hello,

Who is your favourite veg*n personality/thinker?

Which is your favourite veg*n organisation?

And now a random question. Do you think Pokemon inhibits the progress of animal rights?

3. Anarcho-Syndicalist. Interesting. Are you a fan of Noam Chomsky's work? If one wanted to learn more about Anarcho-Syndicalism what would you suggest?

3. Do you like Portland?

3. Your favorite restaurant is in an airport. Comment?

Do you have any phobias?

Why were you chaperoning River Phoenix?

If they made a movie of your life, who would you want to play you?

Can you reverse park a car?

If we gave you $1m, what would you do with it?

Do you think that we'll be in contact with aliens during your lifetime?

Which would you prefer, being a world famous athlete, or a world famous musician ?

Almost 20 years.

Simon and Spohia.

My favorite bike is a custom "plastic" orbea carpe diem with ultegra, xt disc brakes, and a chopped bar.  I'm basically a bike scofflaw on a very expensive bike.

My favorite fantasy would be to be able to spend a significant chunk of time studying at a tibetan monastery dedicated to the study of varyana dharma in India. The debates I could have!

I chose it as a very young child because I thought it sounded masculine. As an adult I'm not particularly masculine...

I've always been a huge fan of shoegazer (cocteau twins, lush, medicine, my bloody valentine), noise rock, brit/irish alt-rock, and old-school death rock/gothic.  I also really enjoy ethnic music from pretty much all over the globe. I'm listening to warpaint's "fool" right now.

My favorite color is black.

April.

Chomsky (and his friend Zinn) are definitely major inspirations. I lean towards the socialist side of anarcho-synidcalism and also find insipiration in the history of the IWW, the historical legacy of Eugene Debs, and on the intellectual side of things -- Rudolph Rocker. I've also lived in spain and anarchism is very active there (CGT is the 3rd largest union). A las barricadas!

I love living in Cascadia. When I travel to other parts of the USA (or Canada) I often feel like I am visiting a different country.

Portobello in located in inner east portland (PDX is used to denote portland locally). It's a truly fantastic Italian vegan restaurant!

I ride clipless (spd) and the majority of shoes that I own have cleats.

Cycling in PDX is fantastic for anyone who has at least a minimal level of comfort interacting with motorized traffic. I personally enjoy cycling in large east coast cities more (e.g. Philly and NYC) because I enjoy swimming in the evil river of traffic (paraphrasing Lucas Brunelle).

Modest fear of heights.

I helped put together a benefit concert for Amnesty International. He was quite the character but he definitely had a substance abuse problem.

A skinny John Travolta.

My parking skills are not as good as they once were...

I would donate all of it to charity (Oxfam, CI, RAN, AI, etc.).

I don't think we will have contact with intelligent aliens in my lifetime but I think panspermia is possible.

Being a musician would allow for more political/ethical-expression.

I'm registered pacific green and am happy with the platform except for the stance on GMO and organic agriculture. As an anarchist I'm not a fan of political parties with communist leanings.

I went vegetarian in '86 and vegan in '87 for environmental (Robbins) and spiritual reasons (Buddhism) with only a few brief lapses. I stopped being vegan in graduate school (mouse killing). I started to self-identify as vegan again about 6 years ago.

Scientific research.

I've done many metric centuries and typicall ride 4-5K miles per year. Much of the cycling I do is combined "training" and utility. For example, I will cycle 30 miles by combining shopping trips with trips to work.

I'm more of a climber than a distance cyclist (e.g. endorphins over scenery).
