Happy Bday W.H. Kellogg

Happy (belated) birthday to vegetarian and whole grain advocate W. K. Kellogg (1860 - 1951) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Keith_Kellogg

W.K. Kellogg began producing his whole grains cereals in 1897. He lived to the age of 91.

In 1951, the year of W.K.'s death, the Kellogg company introduced their infamous "Sugar Frosted Flakes" cereal. This can't be a coincidence; it's very unlikely that Mr. Kellogg would have allowed his name to be placed on such a terrible product. If he knew about "Froot Loops" and similar atrocities, he would roll over in his grave.

He impacted so many lives in positive ways too. He was one of the earliest cancer preventionists (educating people that tobacco is dangerous).

For anyone interested, the Vegetarian Resource Group has a book published called "Vegan Handbook" that has an extensive article in it about Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, who was W.K. Kellogg's brother, and a huge supporter of the vegetarian diet. He lived well into his nineties and performed his last surgical operation at the age of 88.
