I've always been very Valentine's ambivilant, but MrSchu LOVES it and loves big sappy gestures. I love him, and he loves me, and so I make a little bigger effort, and he tries to keep the gesture a more reasonable size. Compromise.

I'm typically pretty anti-valentines... except that ONE time, like 3 or 4 years ago, when I actually had a BF on V-Day....

But I MIGHT have a new man in my life this year on Valentine's.... we'll see... we've got a date planned for next week, I'll know then whether there's a potential love connection, or if we're destined to be "just good friends" (which would be perfectly okay).

That's cute considering it's usually the other way around!

Seems I am collecting Valentines! I have the friend I already mentioned I am swapping gifts with and now another friend and I agreed to swap gifts.
I am also getting up to mischief at work leaving anonymous notes in people's lockers to get everyone talking.

We're staying in, watching sappy movies, I'm fixing mushroom fondue, eggplant lasagna bread, and vegan chocolate truffles. Also doing something truly sappy with a deck of cards - 52 reasons I love him (each card has a note attached) scattered around the house when he gets home to find over the next few days. I have no idea what he's going to do, but he just finished planning our anniversary at the end of January so he gets a bit of a pass for V-Day lol.

After these messages...we'll be right back!

If I don't do something for Valentine's Day my wife will get her feelings hurt. I have already bought the big box of chocolates. I have a plan for dinner. I will pick up a big bunch of roses on the morning of the 14th. I actually like doing it. It makes her happy and that makes me happy.

Do guys expect something for Valentine's day other than a card? I'm always stumped as to whether I should get him something or if that will steal his thunder of trying to sweep me off my feet.

They expect you to put out. You don't think they were buttering you up out of the goodness of their hearts, did you?

How cynical.

Well, it doesn't make it less true though.

My wife and I do not acknowledge V-day any differently than any other. We both feel it is somewhat of a cheesy, Hallmark holiday. A special, romantic day/evening for us is usually best when it is spontaneous.

There is no such thing as truth. People who really know what happened aren't talking. And the people who don't have a clue, you can't shut them up. - Tom Waits

Lets face it, Valentines Day is for women. My wife gets stuff. I get a card. Men don't care about a card. I'm hoping for a you know what.

A card is not important to me, just spending some time together is enough really. To even have a girlfriend at all right now would be pretty awsome stuff.

If that is how your partner treats you, maybe you should look for someone more mature and kinder?
