I've decided to host a small Christmas dinner-party this year. Thus far, my plan is to make lasagna as the main course, bake cookies, and have eggnog. Besides a green salad, I'm not sure what other food to have. Any ideas? I would love to hear about parties you've hosted in the past.

It's a very casual thing, and I'd be surprised if there were any more than 10 people. Still, it's my first party in my apartment, and I'd like to go well.

Also, recipes for favorite Christmas cookies, holiday-themed cocktails, or other desserts would be very welcome.
