What's on the menu?

I think we might have a little cookout on the 4th, but not sure what we'd be eating yet.

i think the bf is getting the friday off instead of the thursday- so can take a long weekend. no doubt there will be much lounging about on the sofa if i don't crack the whip on the DIY front. i may make him cookies if he's good, but i don't see anything traditional like poutine (even veganised) being remotely likely.

Probably grilling up some field roast sausages and some fresh veggies. Probably some homemade black bean dip for snacking on while at the beach.

Lots of fireworks and nervous dogs.

Anytime I think I'm perfect, I remember that my cousin lives on an island, and I've never walked over to visit her.

My aunt uncle and cousins are coming to my parents. They will be having steak but I'm making veggie kabobs.

I get to have the day off work on Thursday. So me and N will go downtown to enjoy the craziness of Canada Day, probably meet up with some friends and have some drinks and then watch the fireworks on Parliament Hill. I can't wait!!!!

Feeling bored? Why don't you wander over to my blog sometime. http://thebohemiankitchen.wordpress.com

There's a big Canada Day do in Trafalgar Square. I've got the day off work so will be hanging around for most of the day. I had originally planned on staying in the evening to see the bands but will be going to Hyde Park to see Laura Marling now.

Are you sure this is art, not vandalism?

bs...the Cowley Road Carnival is on Sunday. If you're up for it, I think the man and I might go.

I have to work. Boo. Although I'm betting it's going to be really slow, because no one's going to wake up on the fourth of July and think, "You know where I need to go today? JC Penny." I'll probably see a few firework shows on my way home from work, though. Then once I'm home I'll probably fry up some veggie dogs, drown them with BBQ sauce, and park it in front of the TV and watch the televised firework show that always takes place down town.

Doesn't that just sound like a party?

The whole day is pretty much all about setting stuff on fire, so I plan to just stroll through the produce section, grab anything that looks interesting and throw it on the grill.

LOL.

I work until four on Independence Day, but afterwards my hubby, roommate and I are going over to a friend's house to drink. Then we'll eventually come back and watch the fireworks from our balcony.

That could lead to an interesting meal. Grilled lettuce, grilled cucumber, grilled lemons, grilled apples...

I'm very sorry to hear about all this. I hope (for everyone's sake) Alex bypasses you. You all are in my prayers.

Thanks, purp. Looks as though we dodged the bullet this time around. Word is that things may clear sooner than thought!

That's good news. Now if the oil spill was just as easy to dodge and clean up...

I'm marching in a parade to help a friend of mine run for re-election, then we're having a barbeque. There's a fireworks show about a mile from my house, and I'll probably walk to that and then back.

Grilled apples actually sound decent! I've seen pictures of grilled peaches, and that is something on my list to try ...
