I Know this is a dumb quetion probably, I mean were all veg heads here so any and all meat is gross, but I just got to thinking...if say someone forced you to eat meat, like eat it or die type sitatuion, what meat woul you just have to die for becuase you absoloutly could not stand it.

For me Id have to say Bologna and hot dogs *gags*

seriouisly why woudl anyone in there right mind want to eat diff aprts of diff animals thats grounded up in a machine and comes out ina sheet? and as for hotdogs whats up with those hard little pieces in there? Iv always thought its either bones or teeth *shudders*

I just reread the thread title. Why would we want to thank the meat?

Any organ meat seems just that tad bit more disgusting to me. I know it isn't logical, but that's what my gag reflexes say.

Chicken breast = gross, Chicken heart = grosser.

Not sayin' it makes sense, but it thats how I feel...

So far, the grossest thing to me is eating tongue or intestine.

This is even nastier: Surströmming (fermented herring in brine, can only be eaten outdoors because of the smell). Eeewww

probably calamari. A year or so before I went veggie I tried it for the first time on holiday and I developed a liking for it, but the thought of it now just makes me heave. Isn't it shrimp or something?

they're made from squid.

OMG I am sooo with you. Something about growing up poor and in England perhaps - I had eaten my weight in liver by the age of 8. I still hate my mother for this. And yesterday my research adviser starts talking about it and I almost chucked on her desk. What is wrong with people that they could eat the whole organ of a large mammal?!?!

Definitely chitterlings!!! Known as "chitlins" to us brown folk.

The stench when they are cooking literally smells like excrement. That's probably because they are intestines with parts of the rectum.

Literally it is the worst smell you will ever smell. My mom cooked them once and I had to leave the house, and that was when I was an omni.

Can you believe this? Ew.

Quote:
Care must be taken when preparing chitterlings, due to the possibility of disease being spread when they have not been cleaned or cooked properly. These diseases/bacteria include E. Coli and Yersinia enterocolitica, as well as Salmonella. Chitterlings must be soaked and rinsed thoroughly in several different cycles of cool water, and repeatedly picked clean by hand, removing extra fat and specks of fecal matter because the part of the pig the 'chitlins' come from includes intestinal polyps and the last few inches before the pig's rectum. The chitterlings are then boiled and simmered until tender

Spreadable potted meat. Contains every type (and probably every body part) imaginable.

That's pretty nasty, out of the things not mentioned yet.

Has anyone ever had liverwurst?

My mom used to make me liverwurst sandwhiches. It's like bologna kind of, but comes in big chunks (think cheese wheel) but is mushy.

BLAAHHHKK. Who eats this!!??!! Thanks mom

when I was in Iceland, some of my friends ate Hákarl. The smell alone ...

Quote:
Hákarl or kæstur hákarl (Icelandic for "fermented shark") is a food from Iceland. It is a Greenland or basking shark which has been cured with a particular fermentation process and hung to dry for 4-5 months. Hákarl has a very particular ammonia-rich smell and taste, similar to very strong cheese. It is an acquired taste and many Icelanders never eat it.

Quote:
Chef Gordon Ramsay, after challenging journalist James May to sample three "delicacies" (Laotian snake whiskey, bull penis, and hákarl), finally vomited after eating hákarl, although May kept his down.

um, yeah.

Whoa. The terrifying foods mentioned on that "cracked" site are just all kinds of wrong. I was just going to say "ham" or "hot dogs"... I ate them as an omni when our family had them, but never liked them much.

Peasant (1963-1972) and Fluffy (1970s?-1982- I think of you as 'Ambrose' now)- Your spirits outshone some humans I have known. Be happy forever.

I used to love potted meat. It was a neighbor lady and not my Mom who fed it to me and now I know why.

Anything organ meat related - livers, kidneys, hearts, brains. Ugh! I never touched any of that crap when I did eat meat. And I know people who ate chicken gizzards and stuff. That's just gross.
