Sorry in advance if this has already been covered, reading through this forum it appears to me that there are way more females than males. Has there been any research world wide how the genders stack as vegitarians?

but you're polling this forum, not how many vegetarians there are actually--so really you're getting an idea of the ratio of vegetarians that use forums on their vegetarianism. Just saying.

Female though.

Well, this poll won't so much reflect the IRL male/female ratio, just whether women or men are more likely to see and answer online polls about it.

Apparently we all start off as females, then some of us evolve into males!

You've covered both sexes but you haven't covered all genders.

I would be willing to bet that in the U.S., there are more female veggies than male veggies. However, I would also think that in other cultures, where it's more widely accepted (like India) it would be more equal.

although it's only the forum it doesnt suprise me, in the circles that I move in I could count all the male vegitarians that I have ever met on one hand, havn't met many female vegitarians either, maybe I need to look closer at where I hang out

Funny, I was about to post the same thing.

Male. I've seen that the general stats are 2:1 fem:male. I approve of this although it doesn't really do me any good personally...

My boyfriend sticks to his guns when he says that vegetarians are mostly female. He says its hard for him to think of a guy as a vegetarian.

Maybe it's the "females are softer and more likely to do something about animal cruelty" thinking

Besides myself, I know 4 female vegetarians and 1 male one.

Although the male is definitely NOT your stereotypical vegetarian - big tall guy, wall street professional type job, etc.

Heh. I was thinking the same thing. So if most vegetarians are female, how come I'm having such a hard time finding a girlfriend?

Just tell him that real men care about the world around them.
