I went for it!!!!

DIBS!!! This thread is mine!!!

Version 1.0 https://www.veggieboards.com/boards/s...ead.php?t=5060

Version 2.0 https://www.veggieboards.com/boards/s...ad.php?t=50491

...because, legend has it that long long ago, there was a CURSED thread...that went on for page after page...

The internet forum gods were angered, and they cursed all those who posted in it. People were plagued with boils and warts, and some became ill... ...SOME, were never heard from again.

Until one day, a brave young mod said "CLOSE THE CURSED THREAD," and it was done...

...and to this very day, no thread shall pass 5,000 posts.

Give thanks to Mother Earth for Her greatest gift...

...gravity.

For without it, we would be lost.

I got one today:

Quote:
if we stopped factory famring cows they owuld all dye becouse they are toe asy of pray and are dependant on use procureing there foods for them

Yes, of course, cows absolutely cannot survive without humans putting them in factories and slaughteruing them.

I wonder how they survived before humans domesticated them?

I assume you copied/pasted something from a blog or message board? I didn't know they let 5-year-olds post on those things. That person needs to graduate to second grade and learn a little grammar and spelling before posting on the internet.

Haha, that's what I was thinking! The grammar is so bad, I had to re-read it a few times to get what they were trying to say. ><

And also, when I read that to my sister, she was like, "What would they fall prey to? 'All them bobcats roaming around?'" XD I thought it was funny...

Like they survive any more with humans "domesticating" them.

I'll always remember, when I first joined VB that the last thread was up to page 29 and I spend like two days just reading it all.

That seems like so long ago.

I was told yesterday the cows would overpopulate the world if we didn't kill them.

I calmly, and rationally explained to them the concept of supply and demand.

Then I may of called them a moron....

sicne it hasnt been put in v3 yet, "god made the animals to be eaten"

so many things wrong with that common statement. and it uses a religion as an argument, which as far as im concerned is realy facile. oh well.

Okay, how about this? This was posted on a photography forum I frequent. One member posted a few "not milk" videos, saying that she doesn't want her kids to drink milk. Most people had decent arguments (on both sides), but then one lady posted this:

Quote:
I LOVE milk. Drink tons (1 glass). Can't get enough. The organic kind. Some animals are put on this earth to feed us, I feel milk and meat are two of those things, along with fruits and vegetables. Lots of other societies drink goats milk. I think it is all personal preference. To much soy for boys is bad too.

I guess it isn't SO bad, but it was a lot worse before she edited it (she toned down her reply a little). I just gave up arguing at that point... sigh.

I just can't get enough of 'the animals were ment for us to eat them'. I mean, could you get any more conceited than that?

The people on yahoo answers really worry me sometimes. It's amazing how so many people can manage to stay so unbelievably ignorant despite the of answers stating empatically that meat is not vegetarian.

"It's okay, for every animal you don't eat three."

"Cool. For every three animals you eat I won't eat infinity." (Who said that first? hehe!)

"I hate animals. Gotta keep their population down."

"Um, no.... supply and demand..."

"If God didn't want us to eat animals he wouldn't have made them out of tasty meat."

"Your MOM is made out of tasty meat." (middle school revisited! but all of my friends have gotten back into your mom jokes, lol)

Cafeteria: "This is vegan."

Me: "Is it made with butter?"

Cafeteria worker: *checks* "Yup!"

Me: "Are the vegetables made with butter?"

Cafeteria worker: *checks* "Yup!"

Me: "Can I just have a glass of soy milk?" (mostly the head chef is an idiot here, I guess).

Seen on yahoo answers

i cant be a lacto-ovo-pesco-vegetarians b/c i dont eat chicken.

This poor girl has no idea what shes doing. She says she has eaten no meat whatsoever for last few months (which is great!) but she does eat fish. Where she got the idea that pesco=chicken is totally beyond me.

well, I can see how they might be confusing terms.... and if you're not blessed with a bit of Greek etymology knowledge they might seem similar.

She'd done enough research to get the term pesco so I would think she'd bother to read the definition. But then if she were reading closely enough to get that, she'd probably know that fish is meat. However she got confused, she's been set straight now

No one has ever asked me that.

Of course, now that I've said that I'll probably get asked twice a day.

Haha, technically, I haven't been asked this either, but I got a:

"Well, a lot of vegetarians get sick because they don't get their protein."

Funny. Last time I checked, a TON of things have protein, like plant protein. ><

Oh. I was at a Big Al's bowling alley with a recent vegan friend of mine. We were looking at the menu for anything that could possibly be vegan. There were:

Pretzels

Onion rings

Chips and Salsa

Fries

The choices were already not much. Everything was pretty meaty and cheesy. So we asked the girl at the front "Do you know if the onion rings have animal products in them?" She just looked at me, a bit dumbfounded. And said "Well, I know they use like a beer batter. I think. Here lemme go check *runs off*"

So we sat for about 5 minutes, then she comes running back and goes, "Well, there's milk stuff in them. and uh, they're kinda fried in the same oil as all the meat and stuff."

I was pleased that she knew the oil would count to us, even if there wasn't milk. We then asked about the chips. "They're fried in the same oil. Same with the fries. But I can give you um... A thing of salsa..?"

XD It was kind of funny. It's like, yeah we really want to just grab a spoon and dump salsa in our mouths. Forget the chips!

Luckily the pretzels were vegan and BAKED not fried, so everything was okay. Besides, my friend's gave everyone a huge vegan cookie after the games so it was all good. :]

I think that girl was nice about it though, and very informative.

Me: Do we have to go in that kebab house? It's gross...

Friend: Yes, we have to have meat...

Me: Oh ok then, its not like you need it to live.

Friend: Yes we do, humans have to eat meat to live, thats why our teeth are like this, strong and sharp...so we can chew through meat.

Me: Oh alright then, whatever. I'll wait out here. It stinks of rotting carcus in there.

Friend: Smells lovely, your just a freak.

What a f*cking b*tch...i felt like seriously hurting her.

Grrrr....

Wow, what kind of a friend is that? Talk about catty (no pun intended).

I would say, "When is the last time a "normal" human being could chase down a huge deer running at 40MPH, pounce on it, rip through the hide with their bare teeth, and devour the entrails, without vomiting, and suffering from food poisoning?

Anyone who thinks they are "designed" for eating meat is cleary the freak. "

I overheard a group of teenagers talking today. One said, "Well she was going to go vegetarian, but decided she couldn't be vegetarian after all because she couldn't eat pork chops."
