Take your time to think .

What food can you just not get yourself to like, no matter how hard you've tried? I haven't been too crazy about fried tofu so far...

Green tea. No matter what, it reminds me of wet grass clippings.

Any vegan cheese that isn't a "Parmesan", doesn't have hydrogenated oils or is not Vegan Gourmet.

Eggplant. Bleh. I tried, I really did. In fact, I ate some today by accident, 'cuz I wasn't paying attention and it took me a long time to figure out why the "hummus" tasted so bad. It was babaganouj.

Tempeh. Well, tempeh at home when I use it. I've liked it just fine at the two restaurants where I've had it. Maybe because they made their own and it wasn't that nasty commercial stuff.

Raisins and bananas. I've tried for years to like them and just can't.

Try eating them and your feelings about them might change.

Huh? No, I've tried them many times pre- and post- going veg. I just can't seem to like them.

Oh I'm not very fond of bananas either. Probably due to the fact that my dad forced me to drink banana milk shakes daily for months while he watched me but that's another story...

I just can't get over he consistency. Same thing with avocados. Creamy fruits!? Yuckk.

Oh. I was wondering, as the thread title asks: "What is the one food that you hate that you've tried since going veg?".

I like just about everything. I'm not too picky, but one thing I don't like is celery.

It's disgusting. I really don't like it. But I've never liked it, so eh.

I second tabouli. I've tried it a few different times and I just can't like it no matter how hard I try.

There is a type of leafy vegetable that I just despise. It sometimes comes in salad and is very sharp tasting. I think it might be Radicchio, but Im not sure.

I agree with an above poster about simulated hot dogs - yuck - but I didnt like hot dogs before being veggie, so what made me think I would like a substitute? blech

Oh and Im not a fan of those Tofu Desserts... tofu2go... yuck.

Well, mushrooms and cilantro are the only two foods I truly despise, but those are pre-veg dislikes.

Something I tried after going veg that I'm not a fan of? I'm sure no one will agree with this, but hummus. I've tried it repeatedly, I just can't seem to make myself like it.

Um, I became vegetarian recently, and I have a package of "firm" tofu sitting in my fridge. It's been there a couple weeks (how long is the shelf-life?!) and I am just too scared to open it.

I know I've had tofu before in Indian food, and some other dishes, but they were all "professionally" made...and I really feel like even if I make it in a recipe it might be awful and then I will miss out on the joy of tofu for eternity.

On the other hand, since becoming veggie I've tried about a hundred other new foods that I love...so yup, the hang up is tofu!

And smart dogs, I felt like I was eating a hot dog, and that wasn't a good thing! Processed soy nuggets that taste like chicken...deeeelish, fake hot dogs...ew. Can they become "charred" on an outdoor barbecue grill? That might help...

I'm horrible at making tofu, so I only eat it at restaurants.

I'm still trying to think of something I don't like besides celery...

It's weird because I used to be very picky about my food.

Me too! It's one of those things I just can't stand. I've tried and tried and tried You know how they say you need to try a food up to 20 times before you develop a taste for it? Well, I took that to heart. Every time my bf will get an eggplant dish, I will try it {and cringe}. It's been well of 20 attempts and I have finally accepted the fact that I just don't like it.

That, and kalamata olives *shudder*. Everything else (that's vegan) is cool.

And for those that don't like tofu - it took me ten years as a veg*n to develop a taste for it.

Fake 'hot dogs'. I didn't like the meat ones while omni and I don't like the soy ones now. Fake meats weird me out a little anyway, I'll eat them if I get a craving but usually they just stay at the grocery store. I mean, who likes hot dogs anyway?!?!
