Thanks for the kind words? I see no reason to judge anyone. I dont judge meat eaters. Unless they are the kind to pick on vegetarians..and then I just judge them for being jerks, not meat eaters.

If you're wondering why this thread was started. Part of what prompted me was the thread "Do vegans dislike vegetarians?"

There seemed to be tension and that at least some vegetarians said they feel condemned by vegans. So I just wanted to point out that I do not condemn vegetarians and give a place for other vegans to vocalize that as well (since many vegans were saying they don't condemn vegetarians).

I believe everything.

Thank you for that post. I agree with many of the other posters that vegetarians are stuck in the middle 'looked down on' by omni's for not eating meat and 'looked down on' by vegans for still eating animal by-products. So thanks so much for that post, made me feel better!

Some of us really do pay attention to the positive aspect of what you've done: You're no longer eating meat. Every one of us can do more.

Gracias, nogardsram.

your sig rocks, too.

I believe the conflict comes when people are veg*n solely rising from animal rights, and stop seeing the other reasons.

People become vegetarian for many reasons, and ultimately, any reduction in the consumption of flesh is beneficial to animals.

I don't look down on health vegans (which we have) and I don't care WHY someone is veg, just that they are on this journey.

I covered a day's gathering discussing attitudes in the gay community. The keystone speaker is a Black gay pastor who recently stepped down from his church in Colorado Springs.

His comments basically summed that the gay community and the Black community did themselves a disservice when they split within. More strength in unity, even with disagreements.

when straight Blacks don't accept gay Blacks, and Gays don't accept transgendered or the bis, all of their fabric is weakened.

I feel the same about people who are veg.

I'm a stickler for honesty, if you eat fish, please use omni, not veggie, but I'll help you on this road.

it is sentiments like "when vegetarians grow up they become vegans" that put us off. esp. when the militant fringe (hey, those blanket statements sting) comes into this thread not to agree, but simply to post...perhaps so that sig line is read?

Tofu-sprouts quoted a post of mine from another thread. Just want to specify that the thread was about what veganism does for the planet and I was stressing that veg*nism is doing something HUGE for the planet because of the terrible environmental impact that animal "farming" has on the planet earth.

Oh, Boy! I love the Opera browser. It is so easy to save my logins and just press control + Enter to be logged in.

Ahem... Now, as for the topic at hand:

I used to think in a pretty ignorant fashion. When I first became Vegan from being a meat-eater, I thought that it was pretty much 'vegan or die'. Literally, I was snobby and stuck up. I turned into one of those jocks that always used to laugh and poke fun at me in school, and Vegetarians and meat-eaters became my focal point.

... Well, it was stupid, and I am glad that I realized how ridiculous such thought was. Now I accept what is reality, and I don't judge people for what they eat. Instead, I praise them for what they do not. Vegetarians (no matter what kind) are no worse than Vegans. You are a great group of people! I appreciate what you are doing, and I am sure that the animals do as well! Keep up the good work.

Austin out~

Just wanted to say that.

Oh and even though I'm sometimes very open about my beliefs, I don't look down on vegetarians. At least they are doing more than a lot of this world!

I never knew there was any veggie-vegan rivalry, I've only ever known one other veggie and everyone else was omni. Anyone who tries to reduce the suffering of anyone or anything is a goody in my book. xxxxxxx

There have been flare ups here on VB. At the time I started this thread there seemed to be a lot of tension and dislike going around, as well as name calling and what not.

I believe everything.
