Here's a list of famous people/celebrities who are veg*n
http://www.vegetariantimes.com/secti...?section_id=91 I got really excited when I saw that some of my favorite actors/actresses are veg*n!!! |
Note the conspicuous absence of Heidi Fleiss....
|
they left out the rapper Common who is vegan.
|
We should have stricter verification criteria for famous veg*ns:
Coldplay's Chris Martin eats fish. per Peter Singer, Voltaire wasn't veg*n I think it has been contested that B. Franklin was veg*n Andy Kaufman ate meat when he was in the Tony Clifton character Jerry Garcia - I think this one has been contested too Demi Moore likewise. Reese Witherspoon - talked about meat-eating on Ellen DeGeneres's show Dan Castallaneta - some sources (incl. Wikipedia I think) claim he's veg*n but on Simpsons commentaries when they talk about veg*ns in the cast and staff, they don't mention Castallaneta Janeane Garofalo - no: http://www.satyamag.com/may03/garofalo.html Socrates and Plato - I wonder what these are based on |
|
![]() I believe that in the long run it is better for the veg*n movement that even things like this list are as accurate as possible. Quote:
Logic and reason.
I meant that I don't know what sources would support their veg*nism. It seems to me it's certainly not their own writings about ethics. |
"Weird Al" Yankovic has been vegan since 1992.

I agree. I always look skeptically on such lists. Quote:

That was a joke. |
We should come up with our own list of famous veg*ans. It would probably be more accurate.
My favorite historical vegetarian mathematician/cult leader is pythagoras. He didn't believe in irrational numbers. |
Hitler was apparently... Well theres varying evidence.
|
|
Wikipedia: Quote:
Biographers Robert Proctor and John Toland propose that Hitler may have interpreted his stomach cramps as an early sign of cancer, a disease that killed his mother Klara Hitler when he was 18. Proctor describes Hitler as "a vegetarian, of sorts" who ate meat on occasion: "Hitler was indeed, for the most part, a vegetarian though he did occasionally allow himself a dish of meat."
Sounds more like a "flexitarian" to me. ![]() |

Re: Hitler
It was said that Hitler was vegetarian. But this is a myth, which often gives misinformed meaty antagonists an opportunity to discredit you, by saying, "Hitler was vegetarian, and look what he did to the world!" In fact, Hitler was a hard-core meat-eater and never a real vegetarian for any ethical reason. The most likely reason why he cut down on meat was because in 1931 his doctor told him that eating less meat would help stop a chronic stomach disorder. It was also suggested that Hitler had a fear of cancer and believed that meat-eating could cause it. (which has since been proven to be true). All these health reasons gave rise to the "Hitler was a vegetarian" myth. The truth is that regardless of health issues, he often ate stuffed pigeon, ham, liver, sausages and gorged himself on caviar (but didn't eat fish otherwise). And finally, to clarify this completely false claim that Hitler was some kind of veggie-animal-loving pacifist, it also transpires that he banned vegetarian organizations from Germany as well as countries the Nazis invaded! So next time anyone comes out with that old "veggie-Hitler" chestnut to try and discredit you as a vegetarian, you know what to say back! http://www.veggieglobal.com/features...ns-answers.htm |
