I could go for that, actually. Seriously. Like a green V. Keep it simple and tasteful. And symbolic, of course.

My cousin is vegan, but he lives in California and I hardly ever see him. I know two vegetarians, a co-worker and a friend who went veg a few months ago. Oh, and my little sister's new boyfriend is vegetarian.

Almost forgot to mention, I knew one other vegetarian co-worker, but when she got pregnant recently she decided that she "needed meat." (I did mention that there are books on veg pregnancy, but I didn't push too hard.) I asked her if she'd be veg again after she has the baby; she said no, and went on to describe all the delicious meat she's been eating. This is a woman who has been veg for 5 years or more.

I know a family of vegans through a friend, but I have only met them a few times.

When I was doing my student teaching I met two students who were vegans

I have met a few other people who seem to be vegitarians off and on

I've met a few, no real close veggie friends though. *sigh* these boards are so nice, it makes me feel as though there are actually other veggies out there, but I soooo like to have veggie friends close by that I could swap local shopping and eating out hints with

Love the post? Why not buy the T-shirt!

When I went vegan, I went to a tech school of about 1200 students, and not only did I think I was the only vegan, but I assumed I had to be the only vegetarian as well!

Well, through word of mouth, I found out that one of the math teachers (a genius man really) was not only vegan, but raw foodist (would explain the bowl of fruit in his office)! Not only that but his wife worked for admin and was raw foodist as well. I also found out that one of the security guards on campus was vegan.

Turns out one of the people I had known my whole life was actually vegan too. She lived in my home town of 330 people! I never knew that either.

Vegans and vegetarians are around, but luckily we don't have to wear green V's on us.

I worked at a whole foods in Boston and 6 of the 45 people in my department were vegan, and there were 5 more in the store!

There are 1-2 million in the USA, that's one out of every 280-140 people.

Yeah, I think the numbers -- if they're reliable -- are closer to 1 mil (and growing).

Close. I'm thinking even more subtle. Ooh! I know! A green ribbon! LOL. We can have a ribbon for every thing.

I know 1 veg*n, my old neighbor/dear friend. I was omni when we lived next door to each other.

My bro WAS a veg*n back in his Dead touring days, but came off the road and started eating meat again.

But that's it, I like the tye die idea....the pins would be cool too, and DEFINITELY and handshake.

I do not know any vegetarians or vegans in real life. There is a secretary at my mother's work, who is also best friends with my best friend's sister, who is a vegan. But I've only met her once, so I can't really say I know her. I have a really good friend online who is a vegetarian, and one girl on a message board I belong to who is a vegan, who started my journey as a vegetarian.
