Could someone please provide me with some hard evidence on this? I'm writing something which concerns it.

I found this information on the internet which seems to shoot down the milk prostate cancer theory.

Don't be quick to draw conclusions based on one site.

Also, might be useful to look at ALL the causes of prostate cancer.

That would be too long of a paper because there are many factors involved that may lead to an increased risk of developing protate cancer.

I think dazzak only wants to look at one particular increase of risk, not all of them.

But part of the discussion over if dairy causes prostate cancer is debating if it's the actual dairy, or the lifestyles/other eating habits of people from high dairy consumption countries.

Comparing stats of people in Canada verus people in China and saying "well, milk is the reason" (which I've seen a lot of AR articles do) is just silly.

Check out a few books such as Diet for a New America (or just google John Robbins) and look at websites such as www.pcrm.org

Just because someone has the title Professor attached to their name doesn't mean anything. Just that they paid lots of money to study a specific topic and to research a subject and prove something of interest to them.

it's going to be really hard to find a reliable web source that doesn't have an agenda behind what it's saying. the site you posted is an Anti-AR group, and many of the sites listed are pro-AR or lean slightly in that direction. some of the ones 4evergrounded posted are pretty unbiased.

my advice would be read everything you find thouroughly and critically, and be wary of those sources that have too strong of an agenda.

If you are looking for more than internet sources, try this bookconcerning that very subject in a twenty year study, The China Study: http://www.thechinastudy.com/news.html

There is a 7 page excerpt here: http://www.thechinastudy.com/PDFs/Ch...dy_Excerpt.pdf

Everything causes cancer. Cancer causes cancer. Breathing causes cancer, as does not breathing.

Just about any medical research that is peer reviewed and worth its salt is listed here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi

Search "prostate cancer" AND dairy. I found some stuff.

ETA- I may be able to get you some of the actual articles, too.

Breathing doesn't cause cancer! Oh, wait...breathing causes cancer

I think you sometimes seriously underestimate the effectiveness of modern sampling methods. While I've seen some shady conclusions in works written by lay people, professional statisticians have concluded that milk consumption increases the risk of prostate cancer and wouldn't come to a conclusion as naive as the one you present in your second paragraph.

Funny, when I read many of the studies on AR and anti-milk sites, it really seems to be that simple.

I had completely forgotten about Pubmed. Thanks, Thalia.

Pubmed is not pro or anti anything. It's the site for the National Library of Medicine and if there's any site can give unbiased information on just about anything medical, it's this place.

dazzak, if you're looking for hard information, this is one of the better sites to go to find it.
