- - I need a winter coat
(https://www.veggieboards.com/forum/11-vegetarian-support-forum/26453-i-need-winter-coat.html)
How would I go about finding something reasonably price, easy to get, and preferably made without animal parts?

Define 'reasonably priced'
![]() Is this a more of a dressy coat or a play coat? |
My bf just got me a Columbia I've been dying for. $250 sold at $169.99 at Kohl's, Carson's etc. I went back and returned it for the same "model" the day that they did 25% off....So I got a lifetime quality, 100% synthetic, 2 layer coat for 127.50

I got a great faux suede coat on overstock.com for a great price.
|
I got a great faux suede at Overstock last year. Overstock is the way to go if you want new. If you don't mind used, thrift store carry cheap coats and if you have the time to look a good one can be had.

I think you would know better than anyone else how to find a decent winter coat for yourself. Try a thrift store or just go to a store and buy one. Its not really difficult.
Think. |
i usually get mine at camping-gear type stores such as REI once their sales hit. most of their coats are synthetics. They aren't "dressy" coats, but they are functional and warm. If you need dress coats such as faux leather, suede, or wool, those you have to hunt around for reading labels.

I would like a play coat that would look okay going from my car to my office. Reasonable is "reasonable for a coat" with only a small premium for non animal ingredients. I guess I just need to go to the store, read labels, and stay away from anything that looks like fur trim, even if the rest of the coat is fake |
My zipper just broke on my coat. I am now in the market for a new one. Gahhhh! I am dreading this shopping trip.

Move here. It's 75 today.

I'd love to go shopping for you all, but no one is close enough!
![]() Here are a few links. I only know mall type stores, so if you are looking for natural, non-sweat shop labor, etc ... I can't help you. I was doing this quickly, so you should double-check for non-veg materials. Mens: 4-in-1 Classic Squall Mountain Team Jacket ... There is also a navy. Fleece Jacket Cord Jacket Snow Crew Worker Frost Free J. Crew Womens: 4-in1 Snowboard Fleecey ... also available in other colors. Sierra Jacket ... also other colors. Cotton Pea Coat Long Felt Jacket Squall Parka Stadium Squall Hooded Squall Alright ... I'm getting tired of looking. Hopefully, that will give you an idea of the potential out there ![]() |
Jinga you rock!
hehe, but Columbias are the way to go. They look good whenever, they're durable, warm and most (if not all) are animal product free. ETA: As far as price goes, for the higher end (i.e. warmer) models, you can pay upwards of $200, but I'd say it's definately worth it. I've got two (my older one I use for skiing) and I've worn my $250 coat for about 6 years now and my $330 one for 2 (and it's not even the slightest bit worn). |
I liked Jinga's list and had a few minutes of fun picking out a coat, if I needed one. In fact, tempted....arrrh.
Also, if you are low on cash, try Ebay. I saw a few here that might fit the bill if you are low budget. http://search.ebay.com/mens-winter-c...sortpropertyZ1 |
Brownie, I was trying to stick to reasonably cheap coats
![]() ![]() Cymbeline, I'm glad you had some fun monitor shopping ![]() |
