Hi , this is my first post on VB, and I just needed to ask a few questions.

1. I have been a vegetarian for about 6 months or so, but I also believe in not wearing leather. I was wondering about jeans. Most companies have a small brown patch on the back side of their jeans with their logo on it. Are those patches made of leather? I am not too good at distinguishing what things are made of leather and what is not, but it kinda looks like it.

2. Can you buy synthetic soap and shampoo(IIRC it is made from animal fat)? at local stores like wal-mart?

3. Also, I did some researching and found that sugar and water are run through bone char. Even though, it is not consumed, it still disturbs me. Lately, I have been getting frustrated because now am not sure the sugar(Food Lion Brand) I use was cleansed by bone char. I have trying googling for the answers, but they do not say so. Plus, what about everything else that contains sugar and water that I consume? I am getting really paranoid because I am feeling hypocritical. .

1. I would assume its just a cheap leather-like fabric...

2. You can probably pick up vegan soaps and shampoos anywhere! Just make sure you know what brands do and don't test or check the bottles.

Hope that helped!

Succanat, which you can find at the health food store, is not processed through bone char, though it is nearly impossible to avoid the sugar that is - it's usually the type that is used to make packaged products.
