Which white rice cooks up the softest?

Long grain or short?

That is hard to say because there are so many and what is "soft." They seem to be all as soft as each other if they are properly cooked. (i use a rice cooker) Short grained rice is "stickier" than long grained rice. Stickier means possibly more glutenous or possibly softer. Maybe a sushi rice?

Short grain, but both will become totally soft when fully cooked. Short grain will be creamier (thing risotto) while long grain will have a bit more structure.
