I just saw a license plate here in Syracuse, NY that said 'Go Vegan'. It made me question the use of the word vegan for a good 15 minutes. 'Go' as in the hardcore bands version of funks 'hit it'? 'Go' as in 'you'd best do as I say'? 'Go' as in move forward? 'Go' because it's a vehicle (both meanings) of veganism? 'Go' as in a 'you go girl' type of comment?
Either way, seeing 'Go Vegan' spray painted on roadsides, buildings, and elsewhere makes me a little hesitant to use that phrase. People don't like being told what to do, so the only ones that would appreciate that phrase would be those who are sympathetic already.
If you want to be an influence, I'd suggest visuals over words. Maybe just a cartoon cow head with a smile and a flower in her mouth?
Oh, and the 'Go Vegan' vehicle was a SUV... so much for environmental concerns! Thought it funny...
