As i was driving to work today, I happened to look over an see a guy in a chicken suit and people holding signs in front of Kentucky Fried Chicken, thinking about the site kentuckyfriedcruelty.com I was interested.

I was curious enough to go over an talk with these people recieving a warm handshake and a flyer for Kentucky Fried Cruelty.

Im still very happy I think its great to see this in knoxville, I signed up for future emails and to find out more information about becoming an activist.

w0ot!

My sentiments are with you in how cruel KFC is to chickens. However, I wonder how much the good outweighs the resentment these protests generate for managers who need to meet their quota and customers who love their chicken and see the protestors as an obstruction. These actions are already on the offense, and are not going to generate an open-mindedness in many who already have their minds made up.

If you owned a salad shop, a group of fruitarians could set up camp in front of your restaurant and protest against you for "cruelty to living plants." Essentially, people could decide anything is wrong and set up camp in front of a business to protest it. Is this effective?

I think it does promote thought. Not too many people enjoy injuring animals, this is a wake up call to those eating there thinking oh its just a chicken wrap or a leg or thigh etc and do not consider the abuse the animals receive just for their pleasure.

They could, but that, unlike the KFC demo, wouldn't have a very good moral basis.

What other methods would you suggest? Have you been to demos, encountered people's reactions there, etc.?

heh I agree.

Most people today were waving and very friendly. Even an ambulance came by, turned on their siren for a second or two and the driver waved real big

but it could turn ugly quick. I think it takes a lot to step up and hold the signs, especially in the heat while inside a chicken suit.

I admire the ones that do this and their courage.

I've never worn a chicken suit, but I have roasted in a tiger suit outside Ringling Bros. Many people we met were friendly and wanted to learn more, too, so it does do some good.
