In additition to Lisa Simpson, is there any other famous cartoon character is vegetarian?
|
That girl from that crappy cartoon, Braceface!
|
I know it's from the same cartoon.. but Apu is vegan!
|
Sorry, I am from Taiwan and I am not familiar with her, I am setting up a website dedicating to promote the vegetarian in Chinese, which is located at: http://www.vegtomato.org/ And, I would like to introduce something different to our people. I have introduced Lisa Simpson, and hope to introduce some other vegetarian cartoon character. Is there any material telling why Braceface is a vegetarian? |
|
Hiya
http://www.vegsource.com/talk/scienc...ages/1645.html talks about Braceface. As does: http://www.vegetus.org/vegtoon/cc4.htm And http://www.vegetus.org/vegtoon/vegtoon.html also lists a couple of other cartoon characters including Count Duckula. (oh and see what it says about Shaggy from Scooby Doo!) |
I have my own set of vegan cartoon characters... um but of course, they aren't for public viewing as of yet. Their names are Digby and Winston.

From PETA's site:
"Sharon Spitz, Brace Face: As 13-year-old Sharon Spitzvoiced by vegan activist Alicia Silverstonefaces the challenges of adolescence, eighth grade, and living with a mouth full of metal, she comes to the aid of animals in nearly every episode. Sharon becomes a vegetarian after taking a part-time job at a meat-packing plant. She also joins an animal rights group, takes a stance against fur, speaks out against keeping exotic animals as pets, and refuses to dissectrescuing the frogs instead." |
Mayuko, Natalie and Epski
Thank you for the stuffs. I used the information you gave and found the following interesting material: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bracef...iasilverstone/ Alicia Silverstone is executive producer of 'Braceface' and is the voice behind 13-year-old Sharon Spitz, a vegetarian and animal lover who's braces contain some mysterious power that often leads to hilarious mishaps! In March 2002, 'Braceface' received a Genesis Award for the episodes 'Meat of the Matter' and 'Dissection Connection'. Also Braceface received the Environmental Media Association Award and was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award. In March 2003, Braceface received a Genesis Award for the episode 'Vanity Fur'. In March 2004, Braceface received a Genesis Award for the episode 'Ms. Spitz Goes to Warsh and Stone'. |

Yes, it seems rare. But it is also interesting to get to know them if they are vegetarian. Do you know where to get these material about them as a vegetarian? |
The mother from Foxtrot (comic strip) is veg*n.
|
|
There is a guy named Ericwho posts on the veganism board at Vegsource that has a whole collection of like every mention of veg*nsm in television. I'm sure he'd be able to give you some more ideas. I've been away from there for awhile, but he used to post as EricJMN or something similar. I thought I had his website bookmarked, but I can't seem to find it.

I thought that Rob in "Get Fuzzy" was a vegetarian.
|
It seems that there is a cartoon called 'Kenny the Shark' which features a vegetarian character (a girl called kat). See:
http://familyscreenscene.allinfoabou...des/kenny.html http://familyscreenscene.allinfoabout.com/tv/kenny.html Not sure how 'pro veggie' it is....or whether it can be classed as a 'famous' cartoon, but hey. |
Not exactly a very big T.V. show, but this girl on a Nickelodeon program "Danny Phantom" is a vegetarian. But I'm kind of mad at that show because they said that veg*ns eat grass on toast...*yells at T.V. about what she eats*

Stripperella!
http://epguides.com/Stripperella/ From PETA's website: "Stripperella: Featuring the voice of real-life animal rights activist Pamela Anderson, Stripperella is an exotic dancer by night and a sexy superhero by ... late night, and she always fights on the side of animals. Stripperella adopted a chimpanzee rescued from a laboratory and also formed her own parody animal rights group, Animals Need Universal Support." One of my favorite cartoons btw. |
