I really liked that article, that was very entertaining!

"To the beaten pig, I hear your screams; to the scolded chicken, I feel your pain; and to the stunned cow, I see your suffering. It is real to so many of us who value your life on earth as much as our own. We are no more important than you. We are so sorry that humans possess so little mercy for those whom they have the power to abuse. We will do everything we can to end your misery until the day we die. You are not alone."

I don't really see the connection equating eating meat with a relationship.

Maybe I need more protein, or something.  I just got an extensive blood test & all my numbers were pretty good.  Maybe I just don't get it.

In a relationship, you express your love and respect for another person, and by being a veg*n, you express your love & respect for animals.  Is that it?

All animals should be respected & should have the ability to lead a natural & enjoyable life. This means not eating them, or abusing them in any way.

Did you read the article? The article is making a comparison between liking to eat meat and liking an individual in a relationship and feelings between the two when you "break up" with eating meat (become a vegetarian) and break up with an individual.

It's not deep, just written for humorous effect.

In a good relationship, you express love and respect. A good relationship is healthy.

But not all relationships are good relationships and that's what they're describing in the article. Basically, a relationship with meat= bad relationship. Even when you break up with someone you're in a bad relationship with, there's still societal pressures (from friends and family who may not understand 'why' it was important for you to end the relationship) and internal pressures (Did you make the right decision?).

Also, we have a relationship with meat. Meat is a big part of people's identities, it's something we are told we love, something we're told we can't live without. When we make that choice to end the relationship with meat, we're making a decision to end a relationship that most of us have grown up with, a relationship that people never expect us to end.

Thanks TL......I kinda get it. Maybe I was taking it too literally.

Maybe you just have a healthy attitude towards what a relationship is, that's not really a bad thing :p.
