I'm trying to cut down on sugar intake and increase liquids, and I'm getting really sick of water.  Sooo...I've been experimenting and here's a few successes:

  • 1 slice of lemon, 1 slice of lime, ice and club soda (refreshing but not sicky sweet)
  • 1 slice of orange, a few slices of cucumber, ice and water
  • a few shots of espresso (decaf works too), creamer, and crushed ice blended (frozen coffee drink!)
  • dash of vanilla extract, club soda and ice (less sweet version of cream soda)
  • Zevia ginger root beer

Right now I'm having the first one.  What healthy drinks do you like?

I pretty well stick to water all the time.

I do mix Vega electrolyte hydrator in with it sometimes.

Just plain water at the moment.

The only health benefit of water is that it hydrates you. But it actually has no nutrients in it (unless you drink mineral water). The "eight glasses of water a day" is a myth with no basis in medical fact.

I have read as much too. But you have to agree that drinking water is far more beneficial and healthy than consuming sugary beverages and tons of fruit juice. In that sense, water is a health beverage regardless of whether it has nutrients or not. Water is still necessary for the body to perform vital functions.

As for what I'm drinking now: I'm having just water at the moment, but with dinner I'm planning to have some freshly-brewed ginger tea with lime to go along with my tofu basil.

I've been drinking more herbal teas and fewer cups of coffee!

Interesting.  I had to look that one up.chef.gif

Today I tried iced hibiscus tea for the first time.  It was really good.  I've been looking for it in the grocery to try but I can't find any.  Not even Red Zinger.  Odd, because it's quite popular here.

I love iced hibiscus tea! So refreshing!

I'm not drinking these beverages at the moment, but earlier I had a delicious Watermelon Agua Fresca and an Iced Tea infused with raspberry and maybe hibiscus (or elderberry, something like that) from Native Foods Cafe. Very nice!

Does everyone know tea will brew just fine in cold water?

This got me drinking iced tea all the time! Just fill a container with water and the usual number of bags. No heat or sun required!

I used to set the jar in the sun, now it sets on the counter for about an hour before going in the fridge!

Found Tazo tea with hibiscus and passion flower.  It tastes like the brew I had at the restaurant mentioned earlier.  I sweetened it with Truvia, which I hadn't purchased before either.  Very refreshing.

I'm so doing this! Thanks :-) I did wonder (obviously not enough)

I'm having a large chai tea with soya and an OJ. Can feel a cold coming on so it's my token effort at warding it off.

I didn't know until I read this, so I tried it and I've seriously been drinking about 1 litre a day of it! Such a great way to enjoy iced tea without having to wait for hours for it to chill!

Both my gf and I do this all the time, in single serving reused water bottles. If you do it with herbal tea (raspberry zinger, anyone? smiley.gif ) it only takes about 30 minutes to brew, so by the time the water has become chilled it is ready to go. Dunno why herbal teas brew up so much faster. Just a tip for the next time you have a quick craving for an iced tea wink3.gif
