Just thought I'd share a bit of victory for the animals.
I was in my friend's room the other night with the radio on. The announcers were talking about thanksgiving and one mentioned about nothing being wrong with eating the turkey and filling up. One of the other announcers chimed in "Well, I don't eat animals. o.o" and the other guy was like "ohhhhh *__*" Awkward pause. I was jumping for joy. YEAH, you tell em! I'm glad someone had the guts to say it. I swear, that made the rest of my night. ^_^
In other good news, my college did a tofurky feed-in and it went super well. We handed out slices of tofurky as well as vegan outreach and special tofurky pamphlets (with a coupon! =3) We got rid of all the pamphlets and all the tofurky. Many people did unfortunately walk by, ignore us, or even when we told them what it was, they paused reaching for it and walked away. But there were many curious takers, and I did get to talk to some other veg people or those who had already tried tofurky. One girl even adopted a turkey for thanksgiving from Farm Sanctuary.
In more good news, as has already been mentioned here, Mercy For Animals is making a good stink about butterball turkey's which will hopefully at least draw in a few to try a veg turkey option.
In even more good news, we are looking to implement meatless mondays into my college dining hall. Hazahh! We tried it once and SOMEBODY cooked up some chicken and seriously f*cked the whole thing up because then everyone wanted some; so that meatless monday was a fail. They haven't done a meatless monday since, but we are looking to start a fresh with some help and also with some more advertising and mentioning about it. Maybe we will leaflet "Even if You like Meat" pamphlets on that day.
You are welcome to share your good news, and of course, have a beautiful and gentle thanksgiving~

My activist group will be protesting the last remaining free-standing fur store in Richmond, VA on Fur-free Friday - which is this Friday. We have nearly 25 people committed to hold signs and wave to traffic for a few hours that afternoon. I will post pictures later.
Happy Thanksgiving!
