I am eating some soy chicken nuggets, and it reminded me of my days back at Mcdonald's when I would order chicken mcnuggets. I recall that most of the time, the nuggets were white, but then there would always be a few dark colored nuggets mixed in. I could never figure out why. I know this happened a lot because I recall friends noticing this too, and it happened at more than one Mcdonald's. I'm assuming it was different body parts from the chicken, but uh, I'm not sure... and so that's why I'm re-hashing this long forgotten mystery.

All birds that humans eat (that I know) have both dark meat and white meat. There's a new mcdonald's campaign bragging about how their mcnuggets are all made of white meat now.

McDonalds chicken nuggets are disgusting. I've never felt any nostalgia for them.

Yeah..... nuggets are quite often made of chicken skin and other by-products that most people would not ingest in their undisguised form.

I rarely ate Chicken Nuggets when I ate meat, but now I always have a box of "Chkn" Nuggets in my freezer - much tastier than the "real thing".

(yeah - dark pieces are probably dark meat....but you never know - could be pieces of who knows what)

I'd be surprised if it were even half - we had a good thread a while back on the ingredients... I remember us talking about 'defoaming' agents...

Nope, I remember that happening. Disgusting then and disgusting now. It was somewhere in North or South carolina, if I remember correctly...

Because I was never a big red meat eater, I used to get the chicken mcnuggets all the time. It's sort of funny, because I was so little then (like 7 or 8 yrs old), but I remember my uncle saw me eating mcnuggets and he asked me. He was like, "I thought you didn't eat meat anymore?" and I told him "what? these aren't made of real meat!" The thing was that at the time I didn't actually think they were made of real chicken. I mean, they were so plastic-y and stuff...

But getting back on topic, I remember the dark meat mcnuggest. I hated the taste of them, so if I got one I used to just leave that one in the container. They were always really hard to chew and tasted different from the white meat. Ugh, I'm getting sick from remembering now...

edited b/c I can't spell...

I never really liked McD's nuggets. They seemed kind of... chewy or something. Ick.

Hehe, I'm actually about to pull some Morningstar Farms Chik Nuggets out of the oven. Mmm...

I always used to think Mc D's chicken nuggets were so gross. I used to like Wendy's chicken nuggets, though.

I want some chik nuggets now. I really like the Trader Joe's kind.

Those were the "Dark meat" nuggets. My sister used to break all the chicken nuggets in half to inspect their innards, and if they were not light and appearing chicken like, she rejected them.
