Not to be a Naruto geek or anything, but Naruto has the fire demon. Garra has the wind demon. But I like the thought of you being a giant flying beaver better. It is st that Shukaku is kind of... veiny.

In the UK a giant flying beaver would be a very scary Freudian thing indeed.

I can't really tell if I offended anyone with that comment.

That was not the purpose. I just meant that there were animals present at his birth. And also that, I'm sure he did not intend for us to abuse animals in this way when God gave us "dominion over them." I feel as though that meant we were to take care of them.

Not me twinkle! I rarely if ever feel offended by anything anyway. Just enjoying some cheeky banterage :)

Great pics of you btw, you look superbly fit! I need to get back into exercise and dance more (for fun).

You didn't offend me. My "I don't even" was a comment about my original post and my way of agreeing with you. Sorry for being unclear 8D

I am a Christian and I am not offended by the Jesus thing.

Anyhow, just passing through and skimming here.

I'll come back later on when I get told something stupid.

Yay! Zumba is a great way to exercise and get to dance for fun!

I think being a Zumba instructor would be one of the best jobs in the world, haha.

You should definitely go check it out. :)

Family Friend: Just curious, why are you a vegetarian?

Me: Health, Environmental, and AR reasons.

FF: But God gave us Dominion over the animals.

Haha! I literally just posted a comment about that.

So I guess to some people dominion means throw them all in cages, torture them even though we depend on them for our current state of existence, and then use them for our own selfish desires.

Ok, I see.

"lol" Whenever I hear that argument I'm always like "Really? God said it was okay to treat the planet and every creature on it like crap?"

I'm pretty sure there's a line in there about being stewards of the Earth, to me that says take care of things and don't be a jerk.

Haha. I haven't gotten quite to 380 yet. And it's been a couple of weeks.

But what can I say? I have just gotten involved in so many interesting discussions with you wonderful people. ;)

I keep making that mistake too. It is month/full year, 6/2012, but I keep putting another slash in it, reading it month, day, abbreviated year, 6/20/12. Perhaps this is separating the Americans from the Europeans.

......................wow..... aren't I a smart one, didn't even notice the absence of the slash there tongue3.gif

This is slightly off-topic, but certainly relevant.

Why do omnis and veg*ns rarely have constructive debates? http://paulgraham.com/identity.html

(It's not long and the really relevant stuff starts around the 8th paragraph.)

yes.gif I think that's a great point. You can't let your ego get in the way of the facts. When you start taking things personally and associating your beliefs so strongly with your own identity it becomes impossible to remain objective.

We've definitely discussed it, but I think it's also plays into why some people take offense to drastically different diets. Food is so buried in people's identities.

My roommate's grandmother came to visit a few weeks ago.  She went on and on about how she doesn't like vegetables, except peas.  When I explained to her what vegan means, she said, the very predictable, "What DO you eat?"

I wanted to ask her the same question.  It isn't just the veggies that she doesn't like.  She is a very picky eater.  Way more picky than me as a vegan.  Go figure...

I have a friend who's an omni, and she is extremely picky about her food.

And then when I explained veganism to her, she was so surprised about "all the things I can't eat."

A lot of omnis are under the misconception that veganism restricts your diet so much because all the things you don't eat are pretty much the only things they do eat. But my diet ended up with a lot more variety and choices when I went vegetarian and then vegan.

I know picky eaters like that, who won't eat fruits/veggies/grains, just high fat, deep fried food. It's no surprise when every one has told me that they go days without pooping. Days, like 3-4, sometimes more. That can't be comfortable.

I think what happens is that they just go over their favorite meals and take away everything non-vegan. So, a KFC meal, minus the chickens and mac n' cheese. That just leaves mashed potatoes! Wait, they have milk in them. That just leaves the plastic container!

Well since vegan food apparently tastes like plastic anyway, I guess there's not much of a loss there. tongue3.gif
