I'm trying to compile a bunch of ideas from people for neat ingredients and general foods to buy from the store for my shopping list. I have a few things right here that I would usually buy anyway.



-Whole Wheat Bread, Tortillas, Wheat Crackers

-Assorted canned beans

-Edamame

-Brown Rice

-Raisin Bran

-Soy Milk

-Fruits (I usually get apples, kiwi, mango, honeydew melon, and grapes or cherries)

-Vegetables (I usually get carrots, celery, radishes, cucumber, lettuce and assorted frozen vegetable mixes)

-Assorted Nuts

-Peanut Butter and Jelly

-Tofu

-Random Fruit juices (usually orange)

-Chips and pretzels



Any other things I could buy to improve my list? I'm always looking for new great things to try. Also i'm new to being a vegetarian, so i'm trying to brush up on my Veg shopping skills.



Try to mention things that were not previously mentioned. Thanks! =3

I have recently switched to sprouted wheat bread and LOVE it! That is a new staple on my list.



Some items I frequent (not on your list):



quinoa

lentils (both red and green)

agave nectar (excellent sweetner)

frozen fruits (I buy fresh fruit as well but the frozen fruits make great smoothies)

cous cous

brown rice crisps (healthier version of chips)

I would drop the chips, myself. drop the jelly, drop the juice. Then I would make my own jellies and juices, which would actually be smoothies that way I wouldn't lose fiber.





So, really, I would get

Rice

Lentils

Fruits

Veggies

Nuts

Seeds.

hmm I duno if you like "faux" meats but i like to try those. (u actually have a lot left to try)



so I might add

Faux meats

hemp milk

Hummus (or the likes to make it)

salsa (or the likes to make it)

different types or rice

different types of pasta noodles

sprouted tortillas

sprouted bread

Stuff to make home made pizza...

You want staple items and things for snacks, but what I usually do is decide on several recipes I'm going to cook during the week and buy the ingredients for those.

what Creep said! I make a menu every week then factor in a few snacks once i get there and see whats onsale (for example my crackers were on sale for 50% off so i bought 3 boxes)
