So, I recently became a vegetarian after being a total carnivore, and the transition was not easy (didn't even like veggies) I've found that Morning Star products are tasty meat alternatives, and they are the primary source of nutrition for me at this point. Don't worry, I'm working the vegetables in, and now like a wide variety.

Morning Star products are high in soy and, consequently, estrogen.

Theoretically, a male using them as a staple for around a year would notice a shift to female mannerisms, and possibly slightly larger breasts.

Any male vegetarians who consumed similar products over a long period of time?

Any side effects?

The average person in Taiwan eats 41 lbs of tofu per year and that's along with even more soy products. I don't see Taiwan as a nation of she-males.

There is a huge amount of misinformation about soy put out by meat and dairy producers who are upset that soy is cutting into their profits. Here's an article that balances the claims with facts: http://www.savvyvegetarian.com/articles/soy-truth.php

The short answer is: soy is perfectly fine as part of a balanced diet. 2-3 servings a day is fine.

As with anything, eat soy in moderation. I drink soy milk daily, and eat soy based veggie burgers and tofu more often than I probably should - at least a couple of times per week. It hasn't made me gay... yet.

PS. There's more estrogen in dairy milk than soy milk.

What I was going to say. Soy does not make you feminine, any more than anything else does.

Who needs sleep when we've got love?
Who needs keys when we've got clubs?
Who needs please when we've got guns?
Who needs peace when we've gone above?

Wrong. Estrogen is an animal hormone. There are no plant sources of estrogen, so unless Morningstar Farms adds milk to their stuff, there won't be any estrogen in it.

Soy does contain phytoestrogens, which are not estrogen, and do not act upon the body in the same ways that estrogen does. They just occupy some of the body's estrogen receptor sites, providing protection from estrogen sensitive cancers in those prone to them.

factory farmed milk and chicken are proven to be estrogenic.

I haven't seen enough evidence linking soy to increased estrogen levels in the male body. Soy has phyto-estrogens but majority of these are metabolized by the body anyway. Furthermore, I doubt these are anywhere near as estrogenic as something like estradiol.
