I became a vegetarian this year at the age of 28. I thought I was still young (lol), but most vegetarians/vegans seem to have converted in their teens. So, to settle my curiosity...how old were you?

I was 17 ... caused lots of upset in my meat and 3-veg family. My OH was in his 20s.

My stepsister and her kids are all veggie and looks like OH's niece is going to be veggie, perhaps when she's a little older (is 10 now and showing preferences for non-meat food)

Vegetarian at 15, vegan at 23. Although my mum told me recently I started asking about what meat was when I was four and saying I didn't want to eat it if it was an animal. Guess my parents never really went into detail about meat when I was little...

Vegetarian since birth. I've dabbled with veganism off and on since high school. I plan to go all the way at the start of the new year.

Been trying vegetarianism since I was 18/19ish, finally did it when I was 23. Am now 24, can't see myself ever going back.

(said it before, but I'll say it again, VB really helped it stick this time )

First time I was 22 but it only lasted a few months. I just stopped eating meat when I stopped drinking/smoking but had no ideological reason to continue being a vegetarian so I went back pretty quickly. The next time I was 26 and that time it stuck.

i hear in my mind all of these voices
i hear in my mind all of these words
i hear in my mind all of this music

Vegan at around 26 or so, for one full year, and then strict vegetarian ever since. That was about twenty years ago.

My usual answer: I have never heard a convincing reason to eat meat.
