Tomorrow (March 20th) is the Great American Meatout.. is anyone here doing anything special for it? Converting? Demonstrating? Celebrating? What have you?

I think I'm going to make potato wellington to celebrate (recipe is in the "Incredibly Delicious" cookbook).. it'll also be Gem's (9) & Felony's (1) birthdays, so I'm going to figure out something special to do for them as well...

Every year I think I am going to do something, but then it turns out that I am busy or I forget, etc. I thought about bringing Why Vegans to the bioethics lounge at my school. Not sure if I am brave enough for it.

I didn't know when it was, so I have nothing planned. Mebbe I'll ask my boyfriend to eat vegetarian for the day, along with other family members.

Sounds like fun,

Actually my favorite food right now is portabella mushrooms, I've been experimenting with different marinades and I can't get enough of these tasty little treats.

The rest of the day, I might be screwed....Probably go with fruit in the morning...and Lunch......any ideas, something simple because KC has to cook cause significant other at work....Maybe a veggie pizza...I don't know where to start!

I totally forgot about the meat-out, with the war and all. FWIW, I continued to not eat meat.

Here's the link to events planned for this year's Great American Meatout (March 20th). I'm reviving this thread and posting the link a month early to allow enough time for VB'ers to see it and perhaps plan something for the day.

I cant help, but I find they chose a rather bad word for their event. When I opened the thread I thought its about a meat specific festival or similar.

Anyway, too bad only two european countries are participating.

That's what I thought too.... My mind immediately flashed an image of a grassy park full of men in aprons standing over barbeques.....

Cool... I guess I will have to read and see what it's about. Something with encouraging an omni to try not eating meat for a day?

What do you mean? At the top you can click on your state and it'll list events, and if there aren't any, you can make one!

I want to do something, but I think I'll be more subtle with posters put up around campus.

The annual Great American Meatout is on Sunday, March 20th this year. Eating less meat can really help you, the animals, and the planet. Eating meat simultaneously contributes to the suffering and death of animals, the ill-health of people, the overuse of oil, water, and other natural resources, the destruction of the environment, the legitimacy of violence, inefficiency in the economy, inequality in the world, and moral failure in a so-called advanced society. Vegetarianism is an antidote to all of these unnecessary tragedies. Try eating less meat, or cutting it out altogether, to help the animals, your health, and the environment! For more information, see www.meatout.org
